A true gem of nature, it goes between Tarentaise and Mont-Blanc on a territory as wild as preserved. And it is today a secret Beaufortain that we are about to discover.
With hiking in the heart of its alpine pastures you will find on the marmot and ubiquitous trails, the happy inhabitants of the massif. With its wooden chalets placed on the steepest slopes of the mountain, come to observe (and taste) the best pastoral traditions of the region.

1. The Roselend Lake Tower

The Tour du Lac de Roselend represents the ideal hike to discover the Beaufortain on a simple path to be realized. A pleasant as well as beautiful, the route makes you discover the beautiful water point from different angles.
With a wide variety of landscapes, you will also have to cross its dam and pastures, the perfect opportunity to discover goats and cows in their summer residence.
The accessible and undeniated hike also allows you to access the most beautiful views of the Beaufortain and goes as close as possible to the shores. Rhymed by the soft sound of streams, the walk alternates with passages on small wooden bridges in a bucolic setting.
And if you are not yet charmed by this exceptional place, you should know that the trail offers incredible views of the Pierra Menta, the Wind Rock and the famous Mont Blanc. Just incredible!
2. The Col du Coin – Lake of Love

Not far from Roselend Lake, let's now discover the hike of the Coin Pass. This beautiful trail will lead you to the Lake of Love while offering you different views of the Pierra Menta during the course. With a progressive climb, this hike has no difficulty and will give you access to stunning views.
In reality, all the denivelé is located on the last meters from the ascent to the neck, but it is absolutely worth the detour! The point of view on the Pierra Menta is grandiose when you arrive at Lake Love. It’s the easy-to-do hike to discover the Beaufortain family and take a full view of it.
What about the little plus? For cheese lovers, a cooperative in Beaufort is nearby, to regain strength after climbing.
3. From Lake Saint Guérin to Lake Tempest

This ideal hike for adventure lovers and a must-see to discover a wild and preserved Beaufortain. It will not only be to walk, but sometimes toad between the rocks in order to reach the lakes of the Tempests. The environment once reached the top is wonderful with 4 lakes of altitude in a wild high mountain atmosphere.
The trail leads you through a valley dug by the stream of Louze and it is at first the pass of Louze that you will reach. Perched at 2 119 meters above sea level, it offers a breathtaking view of the Grand House valley.
You will then have to continue your path before reaching the top. We love this wild and uncommon hike for its superb views as well as its lakes with glacier blue colors.
Good to know: Consider for walking shoes that are waterproof. Even during the spring and summer seasons, it is quite possible to find snow at the top.
4. La Roche Pastire

Let’s now talk about a must: the hike of the Roche Pastire. This circuit for the least grandiose will give you access to multiple panoramas (all more beautiful than any other) on the Arêches Valley and the very heart of Beaufortain. On the trail you will find several ridge paths with the point of reference, the sublime Mont-Blanc!
The hike starts smoothly on a small forest path before taking you to the foot of a rocky bar. You will witness the rhythm of your ascent to a metamorphosis of nature with an undergrowth that has become a high mountain panorama.
If this hike has nothing too complicated, it is truly explosive in landscapes. Alps , Beaufortain, Bauges , of the Aravis , its panoramas are at a loss of sight with in the background the Roselend Dam and the Mont Blanc. Irréel, this little paradise in the heart of Beaufortain is to be consumed without moderation!
5. Lake Feast

Lake Fées is a pastoral, bucolic and soothing atmosphere. Between green valleys, sublime flowery meadows, high mountain panoramas, waterfalls and streams, no doubt that the fairy will be at the rendezvous. In a rural setting, the finish will be on the edge of this magnificent turquoise blue lake and with a bit of luck, marmots will join the show!
If the hike is easy to reach all, however, good shoes should be provided. By borrowing watercourses, the course can actually lead you to muddy areas.
6. Le Rocher du Vent

Are you looking for an atypical trail that blends grandiose views and adventure? The Wind Rock hike is for you. By crossing a tunnel and then crossing a path in a balcony, it is certain that this ascent off the beaten path will remain a memorable memory!
It is self-evident that it is better to avoid suffering from claustrophobia to borrow it. However, alternatives by cutting through the Lauze chalet exist to achieve ascent without using the more impressive passages. If the whole trail offers magnificent and varied views, the top finish from the rock of the Wind offers a dip in the Roselend Lake.
For exploration to take place in the best conditions, consider taking a frontal lamp or flashlight into your bag to illuminate you in the tunnel. Likewise on the rock of the Wind there can be... wind! Provide the necessary equipment to avoid the cold blow. Finally, if the trail is snowy, we strongly advise you to borrow the tunnel but to pass through the classic path.
Good to know: You will find a superb via ferrata to be realized in the rock of the wind, if you have the necessary equipment, the moment promises to be magical!
7. The Belvédère de la Grande Berge

In a more relaxing but not less sensational atmosphere, discover the Belvedere de la Grande Berge while walking in the alpages. This beautiful, easy and accessible hike offers one of the most beautiful views of the Roselend Lake. It represents a pleasant time to spend as a family from where you can see marmots as well as a superb viewpoint on Mont Blanc.
If the denial is weak, the greatest difficulty is finding a place to park! Victim of his success, we advise you to leave early to enjoy the places. But the hike is absolutely beautiful and is worth a visit.
8. The Refuge of the Col de La Croix du Bonhomme

To finish this selection, let's go to altitude to discover the Alps of the Refuge du Col. At more than 1,800 metres above sea level, you will take a ridge path that was built and was directly cut into the rock in 1911 by former alpine hunters.
By shaking nature, you will discover a military and historical heritage once allowing the passages of the troops. To this end, two stele illustrate the work of these men.
On the side of the landscapes, it is a sublime panorama on the Mont Blanc massif and the summits of Haute Tarentaise that await you during your trip on the ridges.
Add to these grandiose landscapes a recurring frequentation of the ubiquitous at the Col de La Croix du Bonhomme. What makes you spend a great day in a setting full of stories!
