In which quarter house in Xi’An?

Are you going to visit China, the Middle Empire? Here is Xi’an in mainland China: what are the areas where to sleep in Xi’an?

Multi-millenary city in the center of the People’s Republic of China, Xi’an (pronounced) shi-an - is the 14th city of the country with 8.5 million inhabitants. Located in the historical province of Shannxi, considered the cradle of Chinese civilization, Xi’an has the surface of the Gironde, 9 983 km2. The dimensions of the city, tentacular, are therefore like China. Xi’an lies at the end of the famous Silk Road and was a capital of China for more than 1,000 years, under the reign of 13 dynasties (at the beginning of the first millennium before our era). In addition, it contains relics and cultural riches, including the mausoleums of the Emperors of the Western Hans, the ancient fortifications and the Chinese pyramids.

According to our estimates, staying in Xi’an will cost much less than in a large French city: 250 € per month for a studio in the city centre of Xi’an and there are apartments in the living room for 17 € per night. The city consists of thirteen administrative subdivisions, which can be considered in districts or districts. To find out where to stay in Xi’an, you will often prefer the neighbourhoods closest to the city centre. Here is our presentation of the places to stay in Xi’an during your stay.

The ramparts of the old town

The old town, surrounded by imposing walls, is a historical monument in itself . Symbolizing power in the former imperial capital, housing in the enclosure of ancient fortifications allows to discover in reality several neighbourhoods, including the Muslim quarter. Between the North Gate and the South Gate many hotels can be booked to sleep in Xi’an, close to historical monuments: Memorial Museum of General Yang Hucheng, Museum of History and Muslim Culture of Xi’an, several amusement parks, the Great Mosque of Xi’an, the Chenghuang Temple.

The Muslim quarter, behind the Tambour Tower and very touristic, is one of the city’s most lively. The main street, Bei Yuan Men Street, is fully paved and very commercial. In the evening she turned into a giant night market, with shops, butcher shops, food stands and sweets and Muslim markets. Cherry on the cake: it will not be difficult to find accommodation where to stay in this neighborhood.

The Beilin district is the area south of the fortifications. It is home to some of Xi’an’s unmissable sites: the Shaanxi Art Museum, the Xi’an Museum, the Grande Pagoda de l’Oie Sauvage and the Xingquinggong Park, with its huge water plan. There you will find great Western food shops and of course, hotels where to sleep. Beilin is similar to a good compromise to stay in Xi’an: a central, commercial area and the heart of a modern, constantly changing China.

South of Xi’an is Yanta district, one of the largest. It houses cultural sites and green spaces, making the neighborhood an ideal den if you are young, or if you visit Xi’an with your family. For example, the Xi’an Qujiang Museum is located near the large Tang Paradise Park and Furong Lake. Further south, on the other side of the Furong S road, stretches a succession of green spaces, including the Qujiang pond and the botanical garden. Don't miss to taste in the famous restaurants xiaolongbao, these delicious ravioli typical of Chinese gastronomy. There is even a concert hall and amusement parks: what to seduce young and old who will have everything to stay in Xi’an.
