History of the Teide National Park

The Teide has always been a major spiritual place for the Indigenous Channels. They thought it was the Gate of Hell (Echeyde). Important archaeological sites were discovered in the park.

Car or coach tour

First, you should travel through the area by car or coach. No matter where you look the landscape from the road is surprising! We recommend that you climb and descend, if possible, by different roads.

To Las Cañadas del Teide , you can admire the gigantic caldera (nearly 17 kilometers in diameter) where the Pico del Teide , the highest peak in Spain with its 3,718 meters high!

The flora and fauna

The trails

You can visit the Teide National Park thanks to its vast trail network . The circuits are well marked and indicated, with different lengths, durations and difficulties. Several guided tours and tours are proposed by the Park authorities and various agencies. In particular, you can contact the two Visitor Centres of the National Park (Portillo and Cañada Blanca).

How to go to the Teide National Park in Tenerife?

To visit the National Park, you can go to the cable car or to the visitor’s reception centers where guided tours and main hiking trails go.

By bus

• Line 348 since « Puerto de la Cruz »
• Line 342 since Los Cristianos/Costa Adeje

Both lines join the departure station of the Teide Cableway in just over 2 hours .

By car

• From the NorthTF-21 or TF-24
• From the South: the TF-21 road
• From the West: the TF-38 road

Note : The journey lasts on average 1:30 from Santa Cruz by car.

Schedules & Rates of the Teide National Park in Tenerife

HORARI

Office and reception centres

• Office d’accueil du Parc National: open Monday to Friday, from 9am to 2pm
• Visitor Centres of the National Parkopen from 9am to 4pm (except December 25th and January 1st)

The cable car

• July to September: open from 09h to 19h (the last climb is at 6h00 and the last descent at 6h50)
• From October to winter time: open from 9am to 6pm (the last climb is at 5pm and the last descent at 5:50pm)
• The rest of the year: open from 9am to 4pm (last climb is at 4pm and last descent at 4:50pm)

RATES

To access the Pic du Teide, you will need to acquire free issued by the administration of the National Park, to ask on the park site . This permit is valid for a specific date only and is to be booked several months in advance.

Note : We recommend that you book your cable car in advance. The queues are frequent and you may not be able to visit the Pic on the desired day. The same applies to guided tours and tours.
