History of the Dragon Stadium in Porto
CPF has been created in 1893 , by António Nicolau d’Almeida . Inaugurated the 16 November 2003 The goal of the Dragon Stadium was to prepare the 2004 European Championship, which took place in Portugal. The construction of the stadium has experienced many rebounds. Its cost is estimated at approximately 125 million euros .
Designed by the Portuguese architect Manuel Salgado , the Dragon Stadium is the first European stage to have taken care to limit its energy expenditure, thanks to its rational use in terms of lighting. This healthy and environmentally friendly attitude enabled him to obtain the certificate greenlight , issued by European Energy Agency .
Before hosting the Portugal-Greece opening game of Euro 2004, the Dragon Stadium was inaugurated in November 2003, on the occasion of a friendly match of FC Porto against the FC Barcelona . It should be noted that the stadium is one of those chosen to host the UEFA Cup of 2020, on the occasion of the 60 years competition.
Prior to 2003, the CPF was training Estadio das Antas opened in May 1952. The latter is already the third stage invested by the Portuguese team. After moving to the Dragon Stadium, the Stade des Antas is demolished.

Guided tour of the Dragon Stadium
If you want to visit the Dragon Stadium of Porto, you can discover the site, on the occasion of a guided tour. We have to count about 1 hour to tour the site.
You will access the dressing rooms, the FC Porto benches, the conference room, and the presidential lodge. On the other hand, you will not crowd the legendary lawn, because its access is forbidden. However, you can approach it as closely as possible.

How to go to the Dragon Stadium in Porto?
The Dragon Stadium is located on the Via Futebol Clube do Porto In Porto.
Visiting the Dragon Stadium has the advantage of not involving too large trips outside the city centre of Porto. Indeed, the Stadium is located in the east of the city, about 4 kilometres the historic centre of the Portuguese city, and about 16 kilometres from the airport. We recommend you get there by public transport.
By metro
The Dragon Stadium is accessible by metro:
- Blue lines (A), red (B), green (C) and violet (E): station "Estadio do Dragão" (the stadium is right next to the exit)
- The yellow line (D): change to “Trindade” and then borrow one of the other lines
By bus

By car
If you don’t like public transport, you can come and visit the Dragon Stadium by car, which we don’t recommend. It is in any case to avoid less than an hour before the kick-off of a game! Outside these critical hours, you can park on the paid parking lot of the shopping center Alameda Shopping .

- From Tuesday to Sunday: visit at 11h, 12h, 13h, 14h, 15h, 16h and 17h.
Note : it is impossible to visit the Dragon Stadium on the game days and the UEFA match days.
Dragon Stadium Museum
- Monday : open from 14:30 to 19:00
- From Tuesday to Sunday : open from 10am to 7pm
- 24 and 31 December : open from 10am to 4pm
Note : the Museum of the Stadium is closed 25 December and mornings 1 January , Easter Sunday and of Saint-Jean .
