1. The village of Ménerbes

2. The Old Abbey of Saint-Hilaire

Built on a steep slope facing the Luberon, this former Convent of Les Carmes de Ménerbes has preserved its medieval architectural unity, dating from the 13th century. It can also be seen its expansion dating from the 17th century. You can admire a beautiful and sober church built in stone of size and covered with a broken cradle vault.

You can also see a large terrace, formed by the defence wall and its tower to protect the site, the very date of the end of the 16th century. It should be noted that this former convent originally housed a community of hermit refugees from Mont-Carmel, Palestine, during the Crusades. She lived here for five centuries.

3. La Maison de la Truffe et du Vin

Built in the 17th and 18th century, the Hotel d’Astier de Montfaucon has belonged to the town hall of Ménerbes since 1751. Today it houses the Maison de la Truffe and the Vin du Luberon.

If you come to visit Ménerbes, you must not miss this place. Dedicated to the discovery and knowledge of the world of truffle and wine, its cellars welcome the œnothèque du Parc Régional du Luberon. You will find almost all the wine producers of the territory, with the names AOP Luberon, Ventoux and Pierrevert. You can also buy and taste truffle-based products.

During the season, you will obviously find fresh truffles, Melanosporum in winter and Aestivum in summer.

4. The corkscrew Museum

If you're wondering what to do in Ménerbes, then don't miss visiting his corkscrew museum. The latter presents more than 1200 pieces from the 17th century to the present day. You will admire the first hand-forged steel corkscrew, but also objects of art in solid gold, ivory or silver.

This atypical museum will make you travel through the centuries and countries by discovering this unique collection. It is located at the foot of the village and is part of the Domaine viticole de la Citadelle, another must-see place to visit in Ménerbes.

5. The Botanical Garden of the Citadel

After discovering the corkscrew museum, you should also take a tour by the nearby Botanical Garden. This beautiful garden is a beautiful green setting extending over 5 hectares. The original restaurants, dating from the 18th century, were restored to accommodate different spaces.

How to get to Ménerbes?

Ménerbes is located in the heart of the Luberon Natural Park. It is fortunately easy to reach it from nearby cities, whether by car, bus or even by bike. By plane, you can land to l’Aéroport de Montpellier or at the Marseille-Provence Airport. You can use a flight comparison like Skyscanner to find tickets at the best price.

You can then reach Avignon then Cavaillon by bus or by train. From this city you can take a local bus line to visit Ménerbes. However, local bus routes are not common, two days a week in general.

It is therefore better to reach the village by car or by bike. If you come by car, then you can follow the D2 road then D3 from Cavaillon, side Marseille . The journey only lasts 20 minutes from this town. The highway of the sun passes nearby. From northwest and Avignon in particular, you can follow the N7 and the D900 towards Beaumettes. In Beaumettes, finally take the D29 and D103 to reach Ménerbes.
