1. Pic Saint Loup and Château de Montferrand

This is the hike at the Pic Saint Loup! Borrowing the Grand Hiking Trail GR60, it is the best known and most famous of the places. Its length and denial make it a difficult hike.

The main advantage of this hike at the Pic Saint Loup is that it allows you to admire the garrigue located around the pointed summit of the Hérault. The route begins with the castle of Montferrand. Dating from the 12th century, the ruins of the castle are perched on a cliff, allowing to observe the surroundings. You then continue through beautiful well marked paths, with sometimes arduous passages.

The pride of this hike is the arrival at the top of the Pic Saint Loup and its cross. After so much effort, the reward is an exceptional view of the garrigue and a breathtaking panorama. 2. Pic Saint Loup

This hike at the Pic Saint Loup is the short version of the previous trail. It takes similar paths, where you can see an old church.

The trail starts at about 300 meters altitude and it is very well marked, without trap or particular difficulty. The most difficult passage is located at the ridge level, especially because of the slope.

As always, who says difficulty says reward for arrival! It is indeed when the path reaches the peaks that the panorama is the most sublime.

The hike ends at the top of the Pic Saint Loup, from which the view is exceptional and which one does not wash. The days of good weather can be seen the Cevennes and the Mediterranean Sea!

3. Pic Saint Loup by the Crêtes

If the previous hike at the Pic Saint Loup was a draft to the peaks, it is consecrated there! For this walk you will pass through the ridges located around the famous pointed summit, in a more difficult course than others.

This difficulty lies in these famous passages on the ridges which are more arduous especially because of the slope. Nevertheless, these passages are those offering the most beautiful view of the garrigue. In the distance, the panorama is sublime and you can see some small villages.

Of course, this hike goes to the top of the Pic Saint Loup where the new cross is dominated in July 2020. From above, rest will be well deserved, before descending to finish your sublime day and rest well before leaving for new adventures!

4. Around the Pic Saint Loup

We finish our selection with this hike at the Pic Saint Loup where, as its name suggests, the goal is to go around. This trail is a loop, with the village of Cazevieille as a starting point and finish point.

Unlike the other three hikes, you will not go to the top of the Pic Saint Loup. Without equalizing the exceptional panorama of the summit, the views of the garrigue are superb in good weather, even a few hundred meters below and the trail is very pleasant.

This hike is especially recommended for families and people who think they have difficulties climbing to the top of the Pic Saint Loup.
