Second city and national capital of Quebec, Quebec is one of the oldest cities in North America. Founded in 1608 by Samuel de Champlain Today it has a population of 531,902 inhabitants. Québec is located south of Île d’Orléans, 270 kilometres north of Montreal. Its relatively recent history and its situation in the shadow of Montreal , make it often abandoned by tourists. Quebec is experiencing severe winters with very heavy snowfalls, and hot and humid summers. A hostile climate, at first sight, which paradoxically has an attractive charm.

It will be easy to stay in Quebec, with the offer of available accommodation important to them, especially thanks to the homeowner’s housing. The city’s special topography, between Basse-Ville and Old Quebec, built in the upper city, will have to be put in legs (and walk a lot) to survey the 35 districts and 21 districts of the city. Old Quebec

It was here on Cape Diamant that Samuel de Champlain founded Quebec in 1608. Old Quebec is the historic quarter of the city. It is therefore the most touristic area and for some, the least interesting. However, staying in Old Quebec will offer a central position, close to the vast Plains of Abraham, the Château Frontenac, the Citadelle de Québec and many museums to visit and other sites to be seen (the Plains of Abraham Museum of Civilization, the National Historic Site of the Fortifications of Quebec, Place Royale, Place d’Youville, Basilique-Cathédrale-). A part of Saint-Jean Street – one of the oldest in the city and one of the most popular – is located in the fortifications of the old city, full of bars and restaurants.

Saint-Jean-Baptiste

Saint-Jean-Baptiste is an active and young neighbourhood in the upper city. Rue Saint-Jean, is the Porte Saint-Jean, a beautiful arch marking one of the entrances in the neighborhood. It is also a chic and effervescent neighbourhood where to stay in Quebec City. The area attracts many artists around Rue d’Aiguillon and Rue Saint-Jean, with some bars and hotels where to sleep in Quebec City city centre. In the neighborhood, the steps of Faubourg provide access to the Lower Town and the Jardin Jean-Paul L’Allier. The stairs of Quebec City offer beautiful views of the city. We stayed close to the church of Saint-Jean-Baptiste during our stay in Quebec City and we attest that it is a quiet and lively, pleasant and peaceful neighbourhood where to stay in Quebec City.

Saint-Roch

This neighborhood in Lower Town is one of the most pleasant places to sleep in Quebec City. Located between the old town and the Old Limoilou district, Saint-Roch is wet by the Saint-Charles River. Traversed by Boulevard Charest and Rue Saint-Joseph – which houses most of the bars in the neighborhood – it is restricted, but it nevertheless has multiple social activities, especially in the many shops it houses, and the green spaces it owns: the Victoria Park, the Jean-Paul-L’Allier Garden, and the park of Pointe-aux-Lièvres (if you come to the winter ice rink, you can do it with dedicated sports). Crossing the Saint-Charles River, you will reach the highway that leads to a must-see site in Quebec: the Montmorency Falls.
