An unusual bar to discover in Lviv
Here is an interesting cultural feature if you visit Lviv.
Indeed, it was in this Ukrainian city that Leopold von Sacher-Masoch was born. This Austrian writer (he was born at the time in the Austrian Empire), Lviv then was part of it) is at the origin of the term “masochism”. Leopold quickly developed masochist tendencies due to his education and he speaks very widely in his works.
The story thus retained Leopold Von Sacher-Masoch as “the origin” of the word masochism and it was therefore natural to devote something to him in his native city.
A bar dedicated to masochism
By strolling into the historic city centre of Lviv, you will necessarily pass in front of the Mazoch bar. A statue of the writer is in front of it. This statue, very appreciated by tourists is a little special. To see it, just slip his hand into the pocket of the statue... 😉
When you enter the bar, you enter a tribute to masochism with all the instruments of “ Tortures possible, an original menu (which you can even buy as a souvenir) filled with dishes that remind masochism and illustrated with pictures very " expressive ".
It is important to say that this is a quiet bar, where people even come with a family to drink a drink. Most people are here only to watch and sometimes get caught in the game...
Because at the Masoch bar, it's better to be quiet. All servers and waitresses are armed with whips and do not hesitate to whip customers on their way. A lot of people get into the game and you sometimes attend sessions of 10 nude backlashes...We might think it’s a staging but to get there, I can tell you that these are real whips that can hurt...If you want you can also whip between friends, then take care of the drink if you don’t want to break everything in the bar:p
Among those who come to drink with friends, those who come just to admire the decoration and those who come for the masochistic pleasures, the Masoch bar is a must-see place of life in Lviv. Not to be missed during a stay in the Ukrainian city!
As a bonus, here is a small presentation video of the bar:
