5 rooms to see booth in Paris

The five best rooms to attend stand-up shows in the capital

We see more and more. A wave of artists has been on the capital for several years to play solo in front of the audience. It is a form of one man show very in vogue: the stand-up is a comedy show during which a comedian will address the audience informally, without artifices, without accessories, without costume, telling funny stories, often short, inspired by everyday life. A way for the public to identify themselves in comedy situations, and especially to decompress in the evening during the week or weekend. A large number of artists, known or winning to be known, play every night in Parisian theatres. The opportunity for us to present you five addresses where to go for fun.

1. The Comedy Club

It is in a way the pioneer of the “new” stand-up in France. A true nursery for artists spotted by the local master, Jamel Debbouze, the Comedy Club has been one of Paris’ new must-see scenes since 2008. It would be difficult to list all the artists who came out of the anonymity thanks to the Comedy Club, but go there on Saturday or Sunday at 6:00 p.m. to attend the show of the new troupe or on Tuesday at 8:00 p.m., on the occasion of the DebJam Comedy, where the Comedy Club identifies and selects the original talents that may be retained by Jamel.

Address: 42 boulevard Bonne Nouvelle, 75010 Paris

2. The Republic

The Republic opened its doors last June and was taken over by the Comte de Bouderbala and its producer. In line with the mythical "Comedy Store" in London or the "Time Square Comedy" in New York, the Republic is part of the new scene of tomorrow for the capital. You can see artists who are already known as the Comte de Bouderbala and Nora Hamzawi, the columnist who may practice the best laughter by self-denial . You can also go on the Nora Hamzawi site to discover a little more about her and her one man show .

Address : 23 Place de la République, 75003 Paris

3. The Paname Art Café

Another must-see address of the stand-up in Paris, Le Paname, located just a step away from the Canal St. Martin, is a restaurant bar that welcomes every night of the week different shows. Admission is free, with a mandatory consumption of a minimum of 5 euros.

Address: Le Paname, 14 rue de la Fontaine au Roi, 75011 Paris

4. Underground Comedy Club

Every Sunday evening comedians pass in front of the crowd to present their talents for about ten minutes. It’s short, it’s funny, a good atmosphere to finish the week with a smile.

Address : Les Cariatides, 3 Rue de Palestro, 75002 Paris

5. The Trempoint

It has been more than 30 years since Point Virgule has been organizing open scenes to highlight the talents of tomorrow. It is one of the oldest open-stage theatres in Paris. Every Sunday at 5:30 p.m., it's four artists who line up their show on the stage of this theatre to make the public discover their universe.

Address : Le Point Virgule, 7 rue Sainte-Croix-de-la-Bretonnerie, 75004, Paris

Of course, Paris is full of many other rooms that are conducive to laughter, but you have a good list to start discovering this world apart from entertainment.
