An unusual way to cross the border between the two countries
At first glance, you will hardly notice that there is a steel cable connecting Sanlúcar de Guadiana in Andalusia, Alcoutim Algarve. On 720 metres in length, the only zipline in the world to connect two countries transports tourists across the Guadiana River at a speed between 70 and 80 km/h.
The boarding platform is located at the level of the castle Sanlúcar de Guadiana , about 100 meters above the river. The arrival point is only 15 meters high, in Alcoutim, at the Portugal , creating an average descent angle of the order of 12.50%, which can be completed in less than a minute. Much less long than a simple routine check at a border, but especially much cooler!
One minute to go down and on arrival you will have an hour in advance. Time shift helping. Once the "travel" is carried out, you will be accompanied by a boat Spain on the other side of the river.

On a busy day the zipline can take care of about 24 to 30 people per hour, at a cost of 15 euros per person. Jarman expects that the famous transportation system works 200 days a year: the zip line is closed between mid-November and mid-February.
