Karave

Located east of the island, Karave is the main port of Gavdos. If the village is one of the largest in the island, the area and population density remain low. Therefore, it is not easy to find accommodation. However, you can rent rooms at the inhabitant.

Sarakiniko

A little further north of Karave, beach of Sarakiniko is one of the most famous of Gavdos. Considered as the seaside resort of the island, reality is quite different! If the few taverns and cafés have managed to get there, the site is not like the main tourist resorts on the continent.

In Sarakiniko as in Karave, you can find rooms for rent in the taverns that are on the beach. The accommodations offered are not very luxurious, but will allow the travellers to look for authenticity more than comfort!

It is not unusual for these establishments to be held by local fishermen, who will offer you delicious dishes of fish or grilled octopus!

For the most adventurous, the trees of the beach will offer you the shade necessary to lay your tent and sleep in Gavdos in a dream setting! Some local shops will allow you to supply you with water and food.

Kastri

Located in the land, in the center of the island, Kastri offers strategic positioning in the heart of the island. Considered “the capital” of Gavdos, Kastri gives access to many sites of interest. From this village, you can reach the beautiful beaches of Potamos and Pyrgos on foot. In just an hour, you will find the enchanting coastal landscapes.

If you are in trouble with culture, visit one of the seventeen chapels on the island, the most important of which is located not far from Kastri. Do you want to discover the region and look for accommodation in Gavdos? It is quite possible to find a room for rent in Kastri.

Ambelos and Faros

If you want to discover the riches of this part of Gavdos, you will probably have to go to a room or apartment rental because the hotels are rare.

A stop at Faros or at Ambelos is a must. Come visit the lighthouse that makes Gavdos famous, located a hundred meters before Ambelos. Built in 1,880, then destroyed by the German bombings of the Second World War, it was deemed to be the second most powerful lighthouse in the world, after that of the Earth of Fire. Today, it has resumed its life and again dominates the island. It’s not unpleasant to have a drink at the end of the day! Hiking enthusiasts can walk along the ridges.

Korfos

Located south of Karave, Korfos opens access to the south of the island and to its Cape Tripiti. This is the southernmost of Greece and Europe. You will admire the three natural arches. From this point on, you see the Libyan coast. It is possible to access it on foot, following a path through the village of Vatsiana, or another, leaving the beach of Korfos. Once you arrive, you will live an unusual moment: you can sit on a monument in the shape of a chair, symbolizing the southernmost point of our continent!

The camping ferus will once again find their happiness on the beach of Korfos. Travellers who prefer a good bed will turn to a tavern that offers rooms for rent, on the heights of Korfos Bay. Here again, you can enjoy tasty fish, while admiring a breathtaking view of the sea. Some accommodations are only available in the summer. It's important to get upstream.

Pyrgos

Are you looking for calm and serenity? Come camping on one of the two deserted beaches of Pyrgos. Between dunes and cliffs, hidden at the bottom of a beautiful bay, you will live like Robinson Crusoe! Accessible on foot from Kastri, sleeping in Pyrgos is worth it!

Agios Ioannis

Renowned as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, Agios Ioannis is a perfect spot for campers, lovers of nature experiences. It is also in this place that a large number of nudists gather. Just a ten-minute walk from the beach, you'll find plenty of food.
