Venice does not look like any other city in the world and it is not for nothing that it is often classified as the most romantic city on Earth. It is also one of the world’s largest engineering exploits because the entire city is built on more than 100 islands in a marsh lagoon. Visitors flock here to get lost in the maze of the streets of Venice and sail on its canals. It is no longer a secret, Venice is a tourist destination which makes it more expensive than other Italian cities like Milan and Rome . Few “backpackers” venture into this city, unless they agreed to pay a little more. The beauty and reputation of Venice, you will pay them through your accommodation and food on site, but Venice is one of the most beautiful places in the world, so it is the price to pay!

Of course, this very low rate is not valid throughout the year, but for less than 20€ per night, it is possible to find accommodation in Venice. If you want a minimum of comfort while being well placed in the centre, you will have to plan between 40 and 100€ per night for your accommodation.

What budget to eat in Venice?

There are some very good restaurants in Venice that offer local cuisine. Here, pizza has the reputation of being one of the worst in Italy, but local specialties such as polenta and risotto seiche ink sauce are usually of high quality and highly recommended. For the quality of the restaurant, the ideal is to use an app like TripAdvisor and read reviews before choosing a place. In general, avoid places where there are servers outside to guide you. Second expense, feeding properly in Venice will cost you on average 30 to 60€ per day (if you are not going to high-end restaurants).

Some tips to consider for your coming to Venice

It was said above, Venice is a expensive city, but as everywhere it is possible to save here and there to spend a minimum. The advantage here is that there are no cars and that everything is on foot. You will only pay the transport if you decide to borrow one of the vaporetti . For transport, it is advisable to book a transport card online and in advance ( ACTV ) "to the islands and on the farmland" ( vaporetti and bus) for 1 day (20€), 2 days (30€), 3 days (40€) or 7 days (60€). The high season extends more or less from the beginning of April to the end of June, then from September to October, as well as the extended weekends (Pentecost, Pentecost, Christmas, New Year). Remember that the Carnival of Venice causes higher prices and reservations. The months of July and August are rather considered low-season months. The prices then usually drop by 20-25 per cent. From mid-November to late March (except the end of the year and the Carnival), prices can be divided by two in the most chic hotels.
