Of the 21 monuments selected for the 2007 vote, only 7 could be part of the new wonders: Internet users had to make a difficult choice between all the wonderful architectures!
It was in 1999 that a great project began in the head of Bernard Weber, a Swiss businessman, to draw up a list of the 7 new wonders of the world. For this, he went to search for monuments across all continents that could carry strong architectural, aesthetic or historical values. It is a personal initiative that converges on the world heritage of humanity but that recaptures the characteristics of the 7 wonders of the ancient world .
Each country has been able to nominate unique places of their kind, and it is finally a list of 21 elements that have emerged. To find the 7 of them who would receive the title of “ Wonder”, a large vote was organized on the website « new7wonders » . In particular, there was competition Eiffel Tower from Paris (France), the Sydney Opera (Australia), the acropolis of Athens (Greece) or the site of Stonehenge (United Kingdom). On July 7, 2007 in Lisbon (07/07/07), the ranking was unveiled: here is a presentation of the Seven New Wonders of the World!
1. The Great Wall of China
Great Wall of China was built to defend the North border of China. Its surface, length and thickness are very impressive because no other architectural structure can compare to it.
