A new museum opened its doors in April in New York and will allow everyone to tour the world through miniature reproductions.
New York There are many iconic and world-famous museums including the Metropolitan Museum (MET) and the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA). You will soon have to add an establishment to the list: Gulliver’s Gate .
4500 m2 of miniature decor
Four years, $40 million and the involvement of a hundred artists will have been necessary to set up this new attraction. The museum that will officially open on 9 May next to Times Square on 44th Street, offers 4500 m2 of scenery of reproductions of iconic places related to a city or country.
Among the miniature performances of these legendary places are the Forbidden City of Beijing, the Bay of Rio or the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem. London and its pop music, Paris, its Eiffel Tower and its pyramid of the Louvre, many metropolises are honoured by some of their characteristic elements. The scene representing Manhattan shows the helpers involved in a road accident.
1 million visitors per year expected
The owners of the site believe that the museum should record a one million visitors per year. It is indeed the number of visits that the Miniatur-Wunderland Museum in Hamburg has every year, one of the most renowned in small-scale reproductions.
The Gulliver’s Gate entrance fee will be $36 per adult, $32 if it is booked on the Internet. Add 44 dollars and your silhouette will be stained and projected in 3D miniature in the middle of the 100,000 other decor figures!
Other countries and regions under construction
Gulliver’s Gate officials do not intend to stop on such a good path. The co-founder of the project, Michael Langer, says the museum team is still at work and is currently producing replicas from many other countries and regions.
