A new face, a whole new size and a gothic style that promise the capital to give birth to a real masterpiece. Not by step, year after year, Notre-Dame made its first steps on the island of Cité. Built between 1163 and 1330, it is the subject of special attention and above all, of a titanic singing. Parvis, façade, episcopal palace, Hôtel-Dieu, arrow, choir, nave traves, rostrums, windows, chapels, arches, windows... Orchestrated by the masters of works, Notre-Dame is made a place in the heritage, comfortably installed on 130 meters long, 48 meters and up to 96 meters reached by the arrow.
Marked by the revolution, the cathedral and its evils inspire Victor Hugo which of this chapter of life wrote the story “Our Lady of Paris” in 1831. An allegory of the resistance of 704 pages which then pushes policies to redorate the blazon of this heritage symbol. Supported by romanticism and raised by the words of the young writer, the rescue of Notre-Dame began in 1845 to end more than thirty years later. A renaissance that won't be the last... After not badly survived the two world wars, it was chosen by Charles de Gaulle to celebrate the Liberation on 26 August 1944. It is also within him that the President’s funeral will be welcomed, like Pompidou and Mitterrand.
