It begins by buying a plot of 13,000 square meters (or 1.3 hectare), far from the 13.5 hectares of today. With only 150 parrots and 25 people taking care of the park, he knows a fulgurating ascent. Quickly, visitors can discover many species of birds.
One of the highlights of the Park is the International Papayago Congress in 1986. Its purpose was to communicate on the preservation of parrots. From there, Wolfgang Kiessling can expand the park and create new spaces dedicated to different animals. First a dolphinarium, then a penguinarium and finally a space dedicated to orques. In 1994, he created his foundation, an ideal place for scientific research.
Visiting the Loro Parque today is going to meet 800 animals, including gorillas, reptiles, lions, hippopotamus. In this space of 13.5 hectares, you will find an aquarium, a cinema-documentary, shops and beautiful gardens.
