In which city house in Tenerife?

A stay in the Canary Islands to enjoy the "Eternal Spring"? This is in which city to stay on the island of Tenerife!

The Canary Islands Archipelago, located in the Atlantic Ocean and off the coast of Morocco, is a set of seven islands that constitute an autonomous Community of Spain. These islands are Fuerteventura , La Gomera, Grande Canarie, el Hierro, Lanzarote, La Palma and Tenerife. The island of Tenerife is the largest of the Canary Islands (2,034 km2) and houses the highest point of Spain: El Teide, killing the stars at 3,718 metres above sea level. 908 555 inhabitants populate the island of “Eternal Spring”, of which 203 811 people concentrate in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

With 5 million visitors a year, the island draws its main wealth of mass tourism. Clemency temperatures throughout the year (between 20°C and 30°C) are constantly attracting Europeans fleeing the cold of their winter or the torrid heat of the summer. In addition, two sites in Tenerife are listed in the UNESCO World Heritage Site: the city of San Cristóbal de la Laguna in the northeast and the Teide National Park In the center.

Between Santa Cruz de Tenerife, San Cristóbal de la Laguna, Puerto de la Cruz and Orotava, Los Cristianos and El Médano, different atmospheres are found from north to south. This is in which city to stay on the island of Tenerife.

Santa Cruz

Santa Cruz de Tenerife, located at the foot of the mountains and wet by the Atlantic Ocean northeast of the island, is one of the two capitals of the Canary Islands. This is the largest port in Spain and one of the largest in the Atlantic Ocean. Moreover, to go there in November 2017, we guarantee that staying at the port will be a bad idea. The city centre of Santa Cruz is an entanglement of alleys between the docks overlooking the ocean and the Rambla de Santa Cruz – an alley where it makes good to stroll.

The Auditorium of Tenerife and the walk in the Botanical Garden that it allows is to visit, one will also enjoy going to spend a day at the only beach of Santa Cruz: the Playa de las Teresitas a few kilometres north (San Andrés). The atmosphere of Santa Cruz is relaxed, peaceful and festive. We can stay in Santa Cruz for cheap. Similarly, the cost of living will be rather low for a French tourist.

Puerto de la Cruz and Orotava

Located in the center of the west coast of the island, Puerto de la Cruz is no doubt the den of retired tourists, who flock to the west coast for the freshness it offers. This is the great tourist centre in the north of Tenerife: 140,000 inhabitants live around Puerto de la Cruz and Orotava, a small typical village perched on the foothills of the El Teide volcano.

If the Orotava reveals itself as a colorful and peaceful village, the atmosphere of Puerto de la Cruz may however be tarnished by mass tourism and hotel complexes, many on the coast. Staying in Puerto de la Cruz and Orotava on the west coast, it can be expensive because of the tourist affluence: there is really no notion of high or low season here...

Los Cristianos

If you are with friends and/or single, it is here that you have to come to stay in Tenerife: the south coast houses all of the most festive seaside cities on the island. Nightclubs, bars on the beach and above all Playa de las Américas are legion. The seaside city is renowned for its natural and artificial beaches, its popular surf spots and its vibrant nightlife. Attention, staying in Los Cristianos and in this area of the south coast can be more expensive.
