Located 17.5 kilometres south-west of Amsterdam, Schiphol-Amsterdam Airport is Europe’s third largest airport in number of annual travellers after London-Heathrow and Paris-Charles-de-Gaulle. In fact, 63.6 million passengers transited there in 2016. To achieve your Schiphol airport transfer to the centre of the Dutch capital, there are several solutions available to you: train, metro, bus, taxi and Schiphol Amsterdam airport shuttle.

It depends on your accommodation in Amsterdam (old city, Waterplooplein, Plantage, Jordann, Pijp or northern districts). Here are our tips to make your Schiphol airport transfer without stress.

The train (operated by the company) Nederlandse Spoorwegen “(NS)) is the easiest and fastest option for connecting the city centre: the journey takes only 15 to 20 minutes and trains run 24 hours a day, due to several trains per hour from 6am to midnight and one train per hour between midnight and 6am. The trains serve Amsterdam Central Station as well as Amsterdam Sloterdijk and Amsterdam Amstel stations.

Count on average 9,50 € for a ticket go. The ticket can be purchased at the yellow terminals scheduled for this purpose on the Schiphol Plaza docks or NS points of sale, at the Meeting Point level of the same place.

Bus transfer

Another way to make a Schiphol airport transfer to the centre of Amsterdam: the bus. Several lines make the journey to the centre: bus 370 and 197, 97, 358...

Lines 370 and 197 (Interliner) of public buses serve the south and centre of Amsterdam for €5.20 per day. The stations served are the station of Amstelveenweg, Haarlemmermeerstation, Museumplein, Leideseplein and Marnixstraat.

At night, buses 97 and 358 (Niteliner), circulate from 00:30 to 5:00 and serve the same stations.

There is a departure every 30 minutes at high-speed times and one per hour at hollow times and it takes at least 25 minutes to transfer Schiphol airport to Leidseplein.

Taxi transfer

The more expensive, but more comfortable, taking the taxi allows you to be placed at the doors of your accommodation: if you have a bad sense of orientation, if it rains, if it snows or if it is very cold, it is ideal. It will take about €42 for a race to the centre of Amsterdam. A private taxi to make its airport transfer Schiphol costs 36 € for a single ride and 69 € for the return trip but you can also opt for a shared taxi, for 19 € for the go and 34 € for the return trip.

Be careful, it’s better to book in advance his taxi because they could all be assaulted by holding a taxi on site. The taxi’s interest is that it makes your Schiphol airport transfer at any time of day or night, and also guarantees a seating position (unlike the bus or train). Finally, count between 20 and 25 minutes of transport. By booking online, you save up to €20 for the race and you will not suffer the high speed of the airport, yet only equipped with a single queue for the taxi.

Book your taxi at Amsterdam Airport with TaxiTender . It is an online booking platform for reliable and affordable airport transfer. Your driver will wait for you in the arrival area, with a sign to your name. It will then take you to the exact place where you want to go. Cancellation is free. If you booked a flight early in the morning at Amsterdam Airport or if you prefer to simply take a taxi to the airport, this platform is ideal for this use.

Shuttle transfer

A Schiphol Amsterdam airport shuttle is available to reach more than 100 hotels in the city due to a departure every 20 minutes, from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Easy but expensive, this transport solution is as comfortable as you are deposited in front of your hotel or apartment. The shuttles are parked in front of the arrival hall (Section A7). Count 27 € for a return trip.
