The Munich Airport Shuttle (supplied by Lufthansa) is transferring from Munich Airport to the centre for a slightly lower price than the S-Bahn (equivalent to RER). However, once in Munich, you will need to prefer a transport card, which increases the overall cost. In any event, tickets are purchased online or at the airport’s ticket offices. The Lufthansa shuttle marks a stop in Schwabing, the chic district of Munich and the central station.
If the Lufthansa shuttle is the cheapest solution, it is not the least comfortable. Guests can enjoy pleasant seats, Wi-Fi and air conditioning. The shuttles are located near terminals 1 and 2, modules A and D, and the main terminal.
The fastest: the train (S-Bahn)

After the bus, the S-Bahn is undoubtedly the most economical means of transport. This is especially the fastest, especially during peak hours. Munich Stations (Hauptbahnhof) and Marienplatz are easily accessible with S1 and S8 lines. They also serve the main stations in Munich.
It is particularly interesting to buy the Airport-City-Day-Ticket card. This will allow you to make your transfer between Munich Airport and the centre (or the opposite) and then be able to enjoy the bus, tram and metro unlimitedly until the next morning at 6 a.m. The group version offers the same advantages for a group of five adults. Tickets buy on a S-Bahn or online terminal and do not need to be composted.

If you don't want to carry your luggage, queue to wait for public transport or taxi, opt for private shuttles. Combining comfort and availability, these shuttles will allow you to rest after a long flight trip. The “door to door” mode will ensure you the presence of a driver who will come to wait for you in the arrival hall at the agreed time, with a sign, and will lead you to his vehicle, and then drop you in front of your hotel.
If you turn to private transfer companies, the cost will obviously be much higher than that of other transfer modes. Ask your hotel, however, it is possible that it offers free transfer services for its customers.
Alternative: rent a car near Munich Airport
To make the most of the attractions of the Bavarian capital, renting a car at Munich Airport is an interesting idea. You will no longer have to worry about your transfer between Munich Airport and the centre, and you will have all the freedom to move around the city. The Munich Airport Center is home to many car rental agencies. This is the case of the Bavarian company Sixt, Hertz, Avis or Europcar. Sleep near Munich Airport
If, for various reasons, you want to sleep near Munich Airport, there are several hotels nearby. For tight budgets, the Moxy Munich Airport is interesting. On their side, Hilton Munich Airport or Novotel offer high-end services, with spa, sauna and gym. The rates are, of course, higher. However, the Hilton has the advantage of being located between terminals 1 and 2, while the other hotels are about two or three kilometres from the airport.
