Asia of the two-wheels seen by Hans Kemp
“ Bikes of Burden » is a series of interesting (and funny) photos taken by Dutch photographer Hans Kemp showing scooters and motorcycles in Vietnam carrying incredible amounts of unusual loads (animals, food, etc...).
It is not only the amount of things carried that is fun, but the nature of them. Without these photos, or without having traveled to Vietnam , you could not guess that it is possible to carry as many aquarium fish on such a small motorcycle.
This phenomenon is mainly found in Asia, where cars are scarce and streets are so crowded that it is often easier to move on two wheels. Aunt Vietnam For example, there are more than 35 million scooters for 90 million inhabitants.
The series of photographs was published as a book, the first edition being 2003 with 148 colored photos. Recently, Hans Kemp once again put his own “Hon Da” in Vietnam to try to seize all the ingenuity of these extreme courseers for a revised version of his book.
