What makes this block of ice so special and so different from the other 46 glaciers in the region, is that it is one of the only glaciers in the world that advances. While the vast majority of glaciers are in regression, Perito Moreno progresses by 700 m per year (2 meters a day) and its cracking noise make him an impressive attraction.

Travel to Patagonia

It is possible to get to Patagonia from Buenos Aires by plane to Río Gallegos airport. Aerolíneas Argentinas and the LAN operate regular flights. However, it is important to know that because of volcanic ashes in the air (and depending on the wind), traffic can be disrupted.

Regarding the accommodation, you will find many casas de famila or hospedajes on-site to accommodate you at less costs. This is the best solution if you travel to Patagonia for trekking.
