In the heart of Jura in the region of the lakes, the Hérisson cascades listed in the network of major sites in France offer a sumptuous show in all seasons. From a subtle marriage of two streams, the torrent of Herisson will not reveal one, but seven splendid cascades!
You start to understand why this site is the most visited in Jura? Between the stunt of the Fan, the Grand Saut, the Blue Gour, the Château Garnier, the Saut de la Forge, the Moulin Jeunet or the Girard jump, the trail offers great surprises. With a weak denial and a well-designed route, exploration is more than pleasant!

1. The Herisson Waterfalls

The Herisson waterfalls hike is the fastest ride to access the different points of interest. And it will take two good hours to complete the course. The trail will offer you a wonderful view following the stream and along the waterfalls.
Lend an attentive ear, you will hear after only 5 minutes walk the Saut Girard cascade guide you to it. Its access is easy, it is ideal for families and young children who want to discover the natural treasures of the Jura.
Also note that the Herisson cascades are real stars. So you have to leave early to avoid the crowd in the middle of the season and prefer a morning hike to enjoy the lonely discovery of the place.
2. Les Cascades du Hérisson by Bonlieu

The route by Bonlieu takes the same start as the Hirisson Waterfalls. But don't stop in such a good way and continue the course so that you can achieve a loop. You will not be disappointed, the extension of the show will be striking by offering you diverse and varied landscapes.
Beyond the 7 cascades, you will enjoy the view of the lakes of Val and Chambly passing through the Belvedere de la Dame Blanche before finishing the loop by the village of Bonlieu. The hike is 12 kilometres away, but the trail is still accessible. Very pleasant, it offers the possibility to escape from the summer crowd and continue your journey on a wilder and less touristy portion.
Ideal if you want to enjoy a small day in the forest, this hike allows you to walk without exhausting yourself. The denial is weak, allowing everyone to follow the path at its own pace.
3. The Herisson cascades by Ménétrux-en-Joux

Go to Ménétrux-en-Joux to start the hiker's loop. This superb 11.7-kilometre hike will take you to the heart of the valley, allowing you to enjoy the smell of wood and the sound of the Herisson torrent. No less than 7 cascades and 31 jumps are to be found on a path accessible to the young and old.
Start the trail directly with an imposing waterfall of over 65 metres high: the Fan. The buckle then crosses the woods in which waterfalls are nestled here and there. In the heart of a preserved vegetation and a forest as enchanting as humid, hiking shoes are put! It would be a pity to crowd your ankle before even discovering these jewels of nature.
All seasons are pleasant to discover the Herisson waterfalls. The place looks like a beautiful snow coat in winter, giving it a magical look. While it is ideal in the summer to enjoy fresh and wooded air in the middle of a particle period. Not to mention the bright colours of vegetation in the autumn and the explosion of flowers in the spring!
