Visit Manarola: what are the best things to do and see in this village of Cinque Terre in Italy?

Manarola is a small fishing village located in the province of La Spezia, Liguria, in the northern part of the Italy including housing spreading on a ravine the wild and rugged coastline by the Liguria Sea. Manarola is one of the five small towns of a part of the Italian Riviera known as Cinque Terre . Cinque Terre , which you will have understood, translates into “five lands”, refers to five villages that are all connected by a hiking trail: Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore.

Manarola is the oldest and second smallest village in Cinque Terre, its Gothic Church San Lorenzo dating from 1338 . At the west end of the village, there is a small port and to the east are the Church of San Lorenzo and a place where city dwellers gather for various occasions. And as in most Cinque Terre , there are vines everywhere.

The tiny. port of Manarola is a real theater whose show would be the picturesque houses (the typical Genoese turn houses) that spread on the cliff and the opening on the Ligure Sea. Although there is no beach here, there is one of the best swimming spots in deep waters in the region. This is the occasion for the most adventurous to jump from the rocks, but a scale also gives you access to the water. There's even a shower.

How do I go to Manarola and the Cinque Terre?

The train is the easiest way to get to Manarola. There is a railway station in Manarola and Riomaggiore on the Genoa-Rome line. We can also approach the villages of the Cinque Terre by car (via the SP 32 provincial road) but it is not recommended because it is impossible to park on site and it is not possible to circulate in the village. If you're in a car, the best thing is to park in Monterosso or Levanto parking. The port of Manarola is accessible by boat . A tourist line connects it to Porto Venere, and from there to La Spezia and Lerici. The nearest airport is Genoa Airport.
