A weekend in the Cinque Terre

You only have a weekend ahead of you to make the Cinque Terre on a motorhome? This is quite feasible! Here is a route to take full advantage of it:

Day 1: Monterrosso – Vernazza – Corniglia

You start your road trip to Monterrosso, but don't waste too much time on this village. Take the nice road to Vernazza to enjoy its pretty centre and its port. This is the ideal place for lunch, and why not sting a head in turquoise water.

Then go to Corniglia. Perched on a steep cliff, this multicolor village is full of secrets. It does not give access to the sea, it is probably why there are fewer tourists.

Day 2: Manarola – Riomaggiore

Enjoy the landscape between Corniglia and Manarola and do not hesitate to make a few stops among the vineyards and old stones. Manarola's visit requires a half-day. For many, this is the most beautiful village in the Cinque Terre.

Only 1 kilometer away you will find Riomaggiore. Why not walk there? The center and the port are full of charm. There are many small local shops.

A week in the Cinque Terre

A week is an ideal time to visit the Cinque Terre by camping-car or van. Here is an idea of itinerary to discover the entire region:

  • Day 1: Riomaggiore (1h30, 90 km from Pisa). This small fishing village deserves a day. Its pretty multicolored alleys and fishing port have a lot of character;
  • Day 2: Manarola (15 min, 7 km). Take the time to immerse yourself in Manarola’s atmosphere. Don't miss his 14th century church and Campanile Bianco. We also recommend waiting for the beautiful sunset;
  • Day 3: the path of the lovers. This is the section of the famous blue path that connects Riomaggiore to Manarola. Take a day to explore it, enjoy the sea view and the vineyards. You are already half your trip: enjoy your van to stroll through nature;
  • Day 4: Corniglia (30 min, 13 km). All the houses in the village are perched on a high cliff overlooking the sea. Visit the San Pietro church and the oratory of the Disciples of Santa Catarina. The surrounding vineyards also deserve the detour;
  • Days 5 and 6: Vernazza (15 min, 6 km). Like the other villages around the corner, this beautiful fishing port is primarily visited for its unique atmosphere. But it also has some points of interest: the church of Santa Margherita, the castle Doria and the Belforte tower. Also take a day to bathe in its limpid waters;
  • Day 7: Monterrosso (40 min, 20 km). This is the end of your road trip. Take time, stop on the road. Monterrosso is a pretty village, but it has less interest than the previous ones. Enjoy it to make your shopping! The specialties of the region are succulent.

Two weeks in the Cinque Terre

The previous route passes through the five villages in the region. But the Cinque Terre are also grandiose natural landscapes ! Two weeks is not too far away. This is the opportunity to really enjoy what the park can offer. Its many paths of hiking , his Paradise beaches , his breathtaking spots .

Enjoy the chance to visit the Cinque Terre in camping-car or in van to honor the Italian farniente! Thanks to your vehicle, you can stop wherever you want, wake up and eat in front of dream panoramas. Between two village visits, take your time. Taste the water, meditate before the sea, lose yourself in the vineyards...

In short, soak up the magic of the place to keep an indelible memory.
