Infographic: where to drink the cheapest beers in the world?

A site has established a ranking of the price of a 33 cl beer in 70 cities around the world and the annual consumption of beer in each city.

The cost of living in a city or country sometimes checks with totally unusual clues. We know of course Big Mac index , which allows a glance to know where to put your feet. The prices of cigarettes is also a good indicator, and reflects the budget, whether or not, that should be expected to visit a particular city. But the price of beer is also an index to watch and complete with the two previously cited to know if you will quickly spend your sub or otherwise save them.

As in 2015, the GoEuro online comparator created the beer price index that compares the prices of a 33cl beer in 70 cities around the world.

Prices and consumption varying according to countries

The cities where beers are the cheapest in Europe are also the most expensive beers in the world. With no less than 7 cities out of the top 10 of the ranking, the major cities in the Eastern countries dominate this index of the cheapest beers in the world.

If we are interested only at the price of a beer in a bar, we find ourselves Kiev , Bratislava and Krakow with prices of 2,34€, 2,49€ and 2,60€ (33 cl). On the other hand, there is the city of Lausanne where beers cost an average of €15.67 in bars. A beer in Lausanne costs almost 7 times more than a beer in the Ukrainian capital! In Paris, the average was €8.89 per beer at the counter.

Which city do we drink the most beer?

Unlike us where wine is the most popular drink in bars or at the table, countries like the Czech Republic, Poland or Serbia have higher beer consumption. So, Prague Not only is the cheapest city in terms of beer prices, it is also the city in which the most beer is consumed per year with a total of 144 litres per capita, followed closely by the two Polish cities Krakow and Warsaw with an annual consumption of 127 litres per capita. Belgrade follows the pace with 119 litres per capita.
