Ideas of itineraries in Montenegro by motorhome

The small size of the country makes it possible to draw up an exhaustive list of routes! Moreover, it should be noted that Montenegro can visit without rushing in three weeks or two. This route passes through Lake Skadar and Sozina tunnel (see paragraph on tolls). The multiple views of the lake are splendid and it is easy to spend the night around. However, Rijeka Crnojevića is only an option as long as the road is narrow and not really suitable for fitted vans.

Once arriving at the Albanian border at Ada Bojana, it is necessary to turn back to the road leading to the Sozina tunnel. Instead of resuming the tunnel, continue straight to Petrovac to the Kotor Palate. On the menu, fabulous views of the Adriatic coast.

South of Montenegro via Cetinje (about a week)

Unlike the previous one, this route passes by Cetinje and the Mont Lovćen . To reach Kotor, the fastest and most beautiful is to pass through the famous serpentine road. However, even if everything is secure, it is impossible for two cars to cross without a small manoeuvre. Driving on this road with a van is therefore a test but it is feasible.

From Herceg-Novi, it is possible to cross the Kotor Mouths in the bin to reach Tivat, the road then to Ada Bojana.

Northern Montenegro (about ten days)

• Podgorica;
• Kolašin;
• Biogradska Gora;
• Prokletije (optional);
• Žabljak and Durmitor;
• Nikšić;
• Ostrog;
• Podgorica.

This route has the advantage of leaving and arriving at Podgorica. It is a beautiful part of the mountain and is therefore not recommended in the middle of winter, especially in Durmitor. Those who have more time and/or who love the mountain can go to adventure Prokletije National Park , close to the city of Plav. Then it is necessary to return via Berane to reach Žabljak.

The combination of the two routes (between two and three weeks)

• Podgorica;
• Herceg Novi / Žabljak;
• Podgorica.

The first route of the South allows to connect Herceg Novi to Žabljak via a new road and breathtaking landscapes. Then follow the North route in the opposite direction to Podgorica.

From the capital, two excursions are possible. The first trip is to Ostrog. If it is possible to reach the monastery by car, know that the last three kilometers are very complicated by camping-car. Experienced hikers can do it on foot! The second provides for Cetinje and Lovćen.

Combine the second route from the South starting with the North is also possible.

Drive to Montenegro by motorhome: traffic rules to be heard
