In which quarter house in Verona?

Are you leaving for the northeast of Italy for the holidays? Between Lake Garda and Venice, discover Verona and its areas where to sleep!

Located west of Veneto in the Po plain, Verona is a historic city – founded by the Romans in the 1st century BC – considered to be the most famous romantic city in the world, especially thanks to the play of W. Shakespeare Romeo and Juliet . Verona has a population of 263,964 inhabitants and contains countless ancient, medieval and other historic Renaissance buildings. Enjoying the influences of Venice and its ideal location, its historical, architectural and cultural heritage is enormous: it is the richest collection of Roman vestiges of all of Northern Italy. But unfortunately, booking accommodation in Verona might well be expensive, especially in the summer.

The city of Verona is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is therefore a true open-air museum. Here, too, the modern one closes the old, delimited by the banks of the Adige. Here is our presentation of the neighborhoods where to sleep in Verona.

Located in a cornice between the banks of the Adige, the ancient city ( Città Antica ) is the heart of the city, composed of some buildings dating from the Roman period. Supposed of Etruscan origin and populated by cisalpin Gauls, the city is founded by the Romans in the 1st century before our era. The Roman amphitheatre and the arenas – which contained 30,000 spectators were a high place of gladiators’ fight, it is today an important lyrical theatre – the stone bridge – that remained intact until the Second World War and was reconstructed to the identical – the Roman theatre, the ark of Gavi are the ancient vestiges of the neighborhood to visit. The Cathedral of Santa Maria Matricolare, the Basilica of San Zeno, the Basilica of St. Anastasie, the church of St. Peter of Verona, the Castelvecchio, are all feudal buildings with a breathtaking state of conservation. The district concentrates the majority of bars and restaurants, however, hotels are expensive to stay in Ancient City.

Located west of the city, Borgo Milano is as its name suggests, a district built in the direction of Milan. This is the most popular neighborhood in the city, close to the stadium. It can be noisy, especially in the days of games: in Italy, football is sacred. It’s a very popular neighbourhood in the Véronais region, where you have to stay in Verona to enjoy the city’s animation at any time of the day and be in touch with the population. Sleeping in Borgo Milano has the double advantage of offering cheap accommodation and being on the right axis to discover the Lake Garda A few kilometers away.

Borgo Venezia

Located on the heights of Verona, Borgo Venezia offers stunning views of the ancient city. It is a quiet and peaceful area, close to the city centre. The student district, very festive, is adjacent to it. Sleeping in Borgo Venezia will seduce both young people and travellers of all ages to small budgets.
