Located north of the fjord Oslo , the Norwegian capital houses 623,966 inhabitants and 1,403,268 people throughout the urban area, on an area of 454 km2. Oslo is one of the most expensive cities in the world. As much as staying in Oslo will be expensive, at least 50 € per night at the first price, but more than 100 € for comfort accommodation in downtown.

Oslo is subdivided into fifteen districts – bydeler – but we recommend you book your accommodation in the city centre. This is our monograph of the neighborhoods where to sleep in Oslo.

Sentrum

A true city centre, the Sentrum is the district where everyone flocks, offering an excellent starting point to visit the city. You will find everything you need to satisfy your desire for outings – many museums, bars and restaurants – and shopping. Developed around its port, this effervescent neighborhood is ideal for finding a hotel where to sleep. It concentrates many historic buildings and museums – the museum Ibsen , the modern art museum, the historical museum, the great national gallery, the national theatre -, the Opera d’Oslo and the garden of the royal palace, to be visited. You can also stroll around Slottsparken , real green lung of the neighborhood. A good place to stay in Oslo but you'll have to put your hand in the wallet!

Located in the historic centre, Aker Brygge is the former dock district, transformed into a commercial area for middle classes. From popular tradition, the area has become gentrified with time and now offers its visitors an exceptional appeal: marina, countless bars and restaurants, and a huge shopping center to make your shopping. It is the area where you have to stay in Oslo to walk by the water, watch the luxury yachts at anchorage or wait for its ferry to visit the Bygdøy peninsula, the Oslo fjord and Kiel rallier (Germany) or Copenhagen (Denmark) by boat.

Grünerløkka

Located north of Sentrum, Grünerløkka is the young, student, living and festive area of Oslo. It is preserved from mass tourism and attracts a chic and bohemian clientele in search of trendy places and trends. Many small cafes, bars and restaurants are on the street and many vintage shops, design, art deco or local products are waiting for you. It is also the area where the Rockefeller Music Hall concert hall is located and a kyrielle of green spaces where to stroll during the beautiful days. It is an ideal neighborhood to enjoy the nightlife and trendy city, but it is a expensive area to stay in Oslo.

In terms of cultural visits, you will have a choice between the Munch Museum, the Intercultural Museum or the Geology and Palaeontology Museum. A good price/location compromise to stay in Oslo.
