St. Jean : the city in the city
St. John (or St. Johann) is the former working-class district of the popular and modest workers, and is now the venue for the Novartis Campus, a real Mecca of modern architecture in Basel. It is often said that it is “a city in the city”. A gigantic building, it is not open to the public but you still have the opportunity to visit it once every two weeks with the tourist office of the city.
Saint-Jean is also a gastronomic crossroads where you like to eat.
