Created in 1953, the Alsace Wine Route is one of the oldest tourist routes in France, traced on the old road of a rally through typical Alsatian villages, famous vineyards and cellars to explore. A treat for oenology lovers while visiting the incredible historical, cultural and culinary heritage of Alsace. Go to the discovery of wines and their production by exploring this wine region, 170 kilometres and through 73 communes distributed between the departments of Bas-Rhin and Haut-Rhin.

A true pilgrimage during which the white wine is celebrated, the Alsace wine route starts at Marlenheim to the north and to the Thann south, on the eastern foothills of the Vosges. Molsheim

Located 26 kilometres west of Strasbourg Molsheim is a commune of 9,286 inhabitants. Obernai

After having tasted the wines, make a stop at Obernai , commune of 11,000 inhabitants, nicknamed "city of the sauerkraut", very tourist and renowned for the houses with doves of the city center. Take a look at the belfry – Kappelturm of the 15th and 16th centuries – at the Halle aux wheats and contemplate the finesse of the doves on medieval houses. Ribeauvillé

Small town of 4,761 inhabitants, Ribeauvillé is part of the Regional Natural Park of the Ballons des Vosges. This small medieval village is a must-see point where to sleep along the Alsace wine route, its landscape is full of renowned vineyards, and unmistakable historical monuments: the Girsberg Castle, Saint-Ulrich castle , the dungeon of Haut-Ribeaupierre, Porte des Bouchers the remains of the medieval enclosure, the houses of the 16th and 17th centuries... Riquewihr

Neighbouring village, Riquewihr is classified on the list of the most beautiful villages in France: ancient Roman city, spared by the destruction of the two world wars, the medieval village was preserved. It is located in the heart of the Alsatian vineyard, overlooking the Alsace plain.

When you come to Riquewihr, try the Gewurztraminer, the White Pinot, the Riesling, the Grey Pinot or the Alsace Cremant by blossoming the monuments: remains of the Bilstein Castle , those of Reichenstein Castle, walk in the historic center, you will take your eyes full!

Eguisheim

This commune of the Haut-Rhin of 1,730 inhabitants of Joux Colmar , and was classified as "favoured village of the French" in 2013. The classifications only engage those who do or believe in them, but it is nevertheless a picturesque and emblematic village of Alsace, living at the rhythm of wine since the Roman era.

The wine of Eguisheim was taken from the Middle Ages and tested its great wines throughout Europe: great Eichberg vintage, great Pfersigberg cru.

The fountain, the castle and the chapel of Saint-Léon are the must-sees of the ancient centre. Walk along the circular streets of the town. Eguisheim is one of the best villages to stay along the Alsace wine route!
