Second island of the Mediterranean Sea, the Sardinia is an autonomous region of Italy. Finding accommodation in Sardinia will be easy, but the most complicated remains to know where to sleep in Sardinia. This majestic island of 24,090 km2 – large as 2.6 times the Landes department (40) – houses 1,649,412 inhabitants and has a breathtaking historical and cultural heritage.

The rocks of Sardinia are among the oldest in Europe, so it is a remarkable geological site. In addition, its ideal Mediterranean climate and its relative preservation of mass tourism – the hordes of visitors rushing to Corsica or Sicily – make Sardinia an ideal and cheap destination for your holidays: multi-millenary culture, limpid waters, beaches and paradisiacal cribs, splendid mountains, picturesque hinterland, guaranteed lively coast. North

Entrance gate from Corsica to the north of Sardinia, Santa Teresa Gallura gives the tone: between coastline, small quiet and rural villages, the city of Olbia and the calm waters that border the coastline, is the paradise of the most affluent tourists. The “Costa Smeralda” is indeed very chic and it is not without reason: the beaches are beautiful and the Maddalena, a small archipelago off Palau is among the unmissable of the island. It is also one of the most touristic regions of the island, so be careful: finding a place to sleep in the north of the island can therefore be expensive.

The northwest coast

The largest city in the area is Sassari, with more than 130,000 inhabitants. This can be an excellent drop point to stay in Sardinia and explore the northwest coast, including the city of Alghero. It is a major tourist centre in the region and for cause: it is a city with a strong Catalan presence since the 14th century, and Catalan has been recognized as an official language by Italy since 1997. Admire the sun that crashes into the sea at dusk, and superb views on the coast at Capo Caccia. For holidays Farniente and supreme relaxation, aim at the Natural Park of Asinara, the beach of Pelosa, or the beach of Saline, descending to Porto Torres. The eastern coast

Uncommon, this region will seduce you if you don’t like areas too populated and stormed by tourists. But the area little to miss animation. You can find beautiful deserted beaches of fine sand in turquoise waters, as in Cala Gonone , visit ghost villages, make long hikes on sinuous crests and snorkeling in the coves. To stay east of Sardinia, prices will be quite affordable.

South part

With Cagliari, the southern Sardinian coast is more dynamic. 154,411 inhabitants live in Cagliari and we understand why: between culture and urban environment, there are also nestlings of nature, festive corners for noctambula and others more tranquil, rather for families. In the vicinity, along the Costa del Sud – from Pula to Teulada – it is all the beauty of the Sardinia that reveals itself in all its splendour: dry mountains falling into the sea, ancient ruins and sumptuous landscapes: not to be missed for anyone who comes to stay in Cagliari. The rent to sleep in the south of Sardinia can be raised in the summer, the part being more chic and more frequented.

In the center to test the farmhouse

Let's get closer to the Nuraghe Su Nuraxi or enjoy the nature of the Sardinia, you can test the Farm House ( agriturismo ), which consists of sleeping on the farm with premises. This is a way to immerse yourself a little more in local culture, to sleep at home while participating in local development and finally to eat local.
