How to reach Ramena, the most beautiful beach in Madagascar?

To reach the beach of Ramena, several means of transport are possible. Small horizon of what you can find.

The voyagers argue that Ramena is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world . It is an ideal setting for a total change of scenery, whether solo, with two or with a family. But how do you get to Ramena?

Possible routes to reach Ramena

By plane Usually, long mails that connect Madagascar to Europe land in Ivato located in the Capital of Madagascar or Nosy-be , Northern Paradise Island. These are the only international airports on the Red Island.

To save time, you can buy a plane ticket connecting Antananarivo-Antsiranana (Diégo suarez) from the Metropolis. That way, you will only have to spend a few hours in a transit to Ivato, to wait for a national flight.

If you pass by Antananarivo, take a short stop of 1 or 2 days. Like this, you will have the opportunity to discover the historical monuments of Antananarivo , visit the ancient royal palaces and the 12 sacred hills, briefly know the history of Madagascar and Malagasy civilization through the local architectures, walk the hundreds of stone staircases linking the neighborhoods, walk through the alleys where 90% of the leading buildings serve as shops, gargotes or grocery stores and whose sidewalks invaded by tens of thousands of merchants at the stall.

Meanwhile, don’t forget to make a reservation with an air operator (Air Madagascar or Air France) to reach Antsiranana as soon as possible.

By car Atypical discoveries and adventurers can rent a car with a driver or not with tour operators. Here are the reference rates for the day for a car with driver:

  • petrol sedan: about 45 to 50€,
  • 4X4 diesel: between 720 and 75€,
  • bus and minibus from 6 to 20 people in the range from 65 to 100€.

About a thousand kilometers separate Antananarivo from Ramena (via Antiranana). For tourists "backpack", no need to worry. Short taxis take the departure every evening in Antananarivo to take you to Antsiranana for a modest sum of 70,000 ariary (about 22€).

This long journey of about 48 hours is full of surprises to travelers. After the green landscapes of the high plateaus (Anbohidratrimo and Ankazobe), and others you will have to look at the successions of savannas intersected little by little with mango plantations and sugar canes. After Ambondromamy, will follow the poorly maintained roads along various farms of vanilla exporters, cloves, cafés and cannels. Once you arrive in Antsiranana, you can reach Ramena via a city taxi (for about 15€ to 20€) or a tok tok for 7 or 8€ and why not, a bush taxi whose price is 2000 ariary (less than 1€).

By the sea To reach Ramena directly, you can still embark on a motor boat, a barge or a tip whether you are in Toamasina, Morondava, Toliary, Sainte-Marie or Mahajanga.

Thanks to these means of transport, you will have the opportunity to admire the Malagasy coastline and its atypical seabeds, to discover beautiful beaches preserved from the destructive hands of Man and to see through the coconut leaves many fishing villages. The crossing may cause sea damage, but the show is worth it.
