Get to the Skytree, the highest building in Tokyo, and visit the Asakusa district

Know the Asakusa district in Tokyo ? It is a very tourist area that is located in the Taito district, northeast of the capital of Japan. Most of the time, tourists travel in numbers to admire the splendour of Senso-ji, one of the most famous Buddhist temples in the city and which is dedicated to the goddess Kannon. Another monument to be discovered in this so popular neighborhood is the Skytree, the highest building in Tokyo that peaks at 634 meters.

Discover the Asakusa district

From your hotel or from the Hamamatsucho train station, a fully equipped bus will take you to discover the different monuments of Tokyo, starting with the Imperial Palace, the Japanese Parliament, the Ginza district, the Akihabra district known to be the old geeks and fans of the high-tech then to admire the Sumida River.

After visiting the main districts of the capital, you will enter the Asakusa district to make a free visit.

But what to see in Asakusa? Between craftsmen’s workshops and dozens of traditional boutiques, there is something to see, feel, surprise. Not to mention Sensō-ji, the famous Buddhist temple dedicated to the goddess of compassion, Kannon. Probably one of the most beautiful and brightest in the capital. Do not forget to admire the 5-storey pagoda at the end of the shopping lane, near the Hozomon door.

However, here are three or four things you can do in this neighborhood during your free time:

  • Buy souvenirs in the shopping street of Nakamise-dori
  • Take a walk in push-and-go. You will find many near the Senso-ji temple.
  • Make a traditional boat cruise on the Sumida River.
  • Amazing yourself in Japan’s oldest amusement park, located in Hanayashiki.

For those who want to take a little height, go to the Skytree, one of the highest towers in the world, but still far behind the Burj Khalifa Dubai). Go up to one of its 2 observation decks 350 metres (the other is 450 metres) tall to admire the city of Tokyo and its surroundings in a completely new way.

At the foot of this magnificent tower you can find dozens of shops, a planetarium, a café, a restaurant, etc. The total duration of this trip to the heart of Asakusa is 5:30 am.
