Eskişehir has a small Venetian air in Turkey

Visit of the city of Eskişehir on the Porsuk River

There are in the world several copies of the beautiful city of Venice . From Las Vegas to China, to different amusement parks around the world, the City of Doges is so beautiful, with its canals and gondolas, that it is difficult not to fall under its charm. In the same way, you will not be surprised to see reproductions of the beautiful Italian.

Yet there is a place where one does not expect to find similarities with Venice: Eskişehir , in Turkey . This University city which brings together 70,000 students is just 3:15 from Ankara and 4:15 from Istanbul. Eskişehir can be translated into “old city”, but it is his youth that attracts tourists, thanks to his two universities.

It may also be because of this that Eskişehir has become an ideal place to practice outdoor activities including his abandoned cemetery rehabilitated in huge park, its Japanese garden or her artificial beach On the shore.

But the best things to do is certainly make a round of gondola on the Porsuk River to the Island of Love ( Sehr-i Ask ) colored with wild flowers, and where weddings take place. Ideal for lovers but also for those who simply want to make a quiet walk on this river.

The city of Eskişehir looks like a European city, and when you visit it on a boat, it is difficult to think that you are far from the true city of Venice!
