Cheap car park in Genoa: where to park in Genoa?

Finding cheap parking when you want to park for a long time is necessarily a question that crosses our mind when you arrive in a new city. Whether you rent a car or come to Genoa with yours, it will indeed have to find a parking lot in the capital of Liguria.

Genoa – or Genova – is a large stretched metropolis between sea and mountains, 592,995 inhabitants and 800,000 people throughout the urban area. However, as in Rome, Milan, Pisa and Florence, it is forbidden to circulate in the city centre of Genoa. Here is where to park in Genoa and how to find cheap parking in Genoa.

Parking in Genoa: park in the street by paying

It is often the simplest and most privileged solution when arriving, but it is also one of the least secure because our little car can be the target of unannounced vandalism. Finding a car park in Genoa in the street might rise from the impossible mission. However, if you still want to risk it, direction the port and the seafront. The nearby boulevards offer numerous places for 2 € per hour and up to 15 € for a day. Be careful because traffic in the cities of Italy is regulated. In Genoa, a ZTL, Zona Traffico Limitato (limited traffic area) applies. This means that only vehicles with special authorization are allowed to circulate in the area. This prohibition may be either general or limited to certain hours. Note that these areas are also very monitored: it would be a shame to risk the fine by crossing the ZTL by car...

Parking in Genoa: park in the street for free

To park in Genoa in the street without paying, watch the marking on the ground: free spaces are materialized by white strips. If they are blue, the parking lot is paid. But it will be even less easy to find a parking space in Genoa without paying. After some internet searches, we found only two streets where parking is free:

• Piazza Giambattista Raggi,
• Via Moresco.

For those who do not want to tirelessly walk in the streets to find a place to park for free and without being in the ZTL, another possible remedy: private and underground parking!

Parking in Genoa: park in indoor parking

Some private parking companies exist in Genoa but the rates are free so make sure not to make you scam... We recommend that you reserve your place in advance with parking companies in Genoa:

• Byclick : 4 car parks found, around the port and in the city center (7 € for 3 hours, 36 € per day),
• Parkimeter : car parks Autorimessa Granaldi (1,50 € per hour) and Montegrappa Garage (1,98 € per hour),
• Parkopedia : between 2 € and 5 € for two hours of parking.
