With a population of about 205,000 inhabitants spread over 84.5 km2, Trieste was long-stained as the first access to the sea, by the Holy Roman Empire and the Austro-Hungarian Empire: it is therefore a mosaic of Mediterranean, Latin, Germanic and Slavic cultures. Trieste was elected first Italian city for its quality of life in 2009. But rent side to find a place to sleep in Trieste? The Grand Canal
Further north, towards the Trieste-Opicina tram station, the other large Trieste neighbourhood is unveiled: Canal Grande The Grand Canal. It was dug from 1754 to 1756 to allow ships to pass through the old town. Today, the area takes a look from Vieux-Port de Marseille in miniature and a few small boats and motorboats continue to anchor. The Grand Canal is a few metres from the Central Station, which is convenient if you have a train to take early the next morning. The Ponte Rosso is full of terraces where you can enjoy the sun for the summer days. Accommodation at the Grand Canal offers a central location to discover the city.
