Which city is staying in Kos?

A trip to the Greek islands of Dodecanese for this summer? Which city is staying in Kos?

Flower of Greek history and tourist, cultural and main port of the island of Kos, the eponymous city is located in the northeast of the island of Kos, 370 kilometers from the Piraeus (Athens) and just 21 kilometers from Bodrum, a famous Turkish seaside resort. Kos has 30,941 inhabitants spread over 106.6 km2 but like all the Greek islands, attracts a large population of estivants in the summer. In fact, prices also increase to rent accommodation in Kos. With its ancient history – according to legend, it is there that Hercules would have carried out its twelve works – and its cultural heritage, Kos is one of the most visited islands of the Dodecanese. We also go there for the beauty of its landscapes and beaches as well as to celebrate. Many hotels are concentrated in the coated areas around the port and the good news is that staying in Kos is not necessarily very expensive (except summer).

Between the visits of the archaeological sites, the castles of the Middle Ages, the beaches of turquoise water, museums, temples or places of exits to celebrate, the city of Kos offers it for absolutely all tastes. Here is without further delay our presentation of the areas where to stay in Kos.

If you arrive by sea at the port, you will not miss the fortress of the Knights, an imposing medieval castle overlooking the circular rade that surrounds the maritime promenade. Along this, countless bar and coffee terraces give the tone from the outset: here is a world! The archaeological museum, the Kastro, the Hippocratic tree and the mosque of Gazi Hassan Pacha (1786) are among the immanquables of the old town. Many historical monuments are visitable at the edge of your walks: the ancient agora (where houses, temples, baths and mosaics have been excavated), the Roman odeon, the ancient nymphaion (a place dedicated to nymphs) or the altar of Dyonysos. Visit also the Asclepiéion (4 kilometers west), dedicated to the Greek god of medicine, the Roman Villa, the Casa Romana, which is a replica of a Roman house open to visitors. Once again, many Greek restaurants and international cuisine will delight your taste buds, before the city is invaded by a different population: the noctambules, who storm the terraces in the evening. To stay in Kos, the old city promises to be animated!

The north of Kos

In the north of the city, there is a long coastal strip with sandy beaches, bars and beach restaurants with decks where you can refresh and feed your feet in the water at any time, and where you can do many outdoor activities. Tourist area requires, there are also a large number of beach hotels. As much as you can say, the beaches are very crowded and very touristic! Bars, clubs, discotheques, restaurants: it’s probably where you have to stay in Kos, where the beer will flow by streams, if you’re young and party-like, amateur beach parties fucked up until dawn.
