Chocolate Hills are certainly the most famous site on the island of Bohol. Formed under water two million years ago by the tides movements, the hills hold their name thanks to the color they take during the summer (dried grass browned). These are more than 1200 hills that have been identified and you can admire them from a culminating point after climbing 214 steps.

5. Walk on the suspended bridge of Tigbao

It is made of steel cables and a bamboo floor. When you cross the bridge, it is quite unstable and oscillates a lot, but it is very fun! On the other hand, you will find souvenir shops and Bohol’s king buko, a man who opens coconut with his teeth... If you don’t want to make purchases, the bridge is not a must-see activity in Bohol.

How to get around on Bohol Island?

For short-distance transport, I suggest you use the services of a rickshaw (genre Tuk-Tuk local). But once installed at your hotel (if you have scheduled at least 2-3 days on the island), rent a scooter or a motorcycle. It costs almost nothing during the day and allows you to visit the island of Bohol freely. In addition, apart from Tagbilaran, traffic is really very light on the island. It is a happiness to pass through the villages or children and the inhabitants greet you and shout. Here’s a photo we can only take if we have time to stop:

Where to sleep in Bohol?

During my stay in Bohol, I had stayed with friends at the Bohol Bee Farm. It was by far the best hotel I could see in the Philippines, knowing that I do not take luxury hotels. If you don't stay here, spend at least lunch or dinner because they serve really excellent and organic food. To find a hotel in Bohol, search our website Compare hotels.
