With the most beautiful hikes of the Gers, we will follow walking routes often very ancient, such as the sections of Via Podiensis and Via Tolosana, two paths that lead to Santiago de Compostela!

1. La Romieu : On the section of the World Heritage

The Santiago de Compostela trails are all ubiquitous in the hikes of the Gers: here we begin the journey from La Romieu, recognized as one of the most beautiful French villages, to venture on the GR65 trailed by many pilgrims and hikers of all hair. This section of the GR is ranked in World Heritage by Unesco!

On the way, make a stop at the Chapel of Abrin, in the medieval village of Castelnau on the Auvignon, then at the castle of Maridac, before returning to La Romieu to plunge you into the atmosphere of the village. A beautiful loop that will take a whole day.

2. Condom and Larressingle

We continue our route on the paths of Santiago, with a new step not to be missed: Condom. Sometimes subject to jokes, Condom is a pretty village established on the Baïze, which you cross to start this pleasant hike in the Gers.

A country itinerary, to take the air and walk the quiet mind, before reaching the main stage encountered on the way: the medieval village of Larressingle, among the most beautiful French villages, and that we surname here the “little Carcassonne du Gers”! Ideal to relax and mark a break, before closing this large loop of 17 km in total.

3. Lectoure and Lac des 3 Vallées

With this hike in the Gers, you make a stone, two strokes. A nice, hilly loop in the surrounding countryside, easy and pleasant with streams, wooded trails, and break on the edge of small lakes.

Then, the visit of Lectoure, a must-see in the Gers: a stage on the way to Santiago de Compostela, one easily sits in the old town to discover its impressive historical heritage.

4. The circuit of Lavardens Castle

This large loop plunges you into the heart of Gascogne’s agricultural campaign, along the valley of La Gimone, the ideal place to walk, take the air and enjoy the tranquility of the region.

On the backdrop, Simorre will be the most important step of this hike in the Gers: one distinguishes from far its fortified abbey church, and its shady squares will be perfect for sharking.

6. From Montesquiou to Isle-de-Noé on the way to Santiago

7. The Coteaux circuit in Marciac

From Marciac, known for his Jazz Festival, this hike begins in the Gers. A well-marked path to be expected on a half day, without excessive denial, to take the time to see Juillac and Tourdin, two typical villages of the area, to cross the vineyards of Saint-Mont, then to take a break at the expense, at the end of the loop, at Lake Marciac.

The village, particularly pleasant, serves as the basis for departure and arrival for this small itinerary designed to stretch your legs in the countryside, via the mosaics and the Baths of the Gallo-Roman villa of Séviac, the highlight of the hike. The return is made by the way of Saint Jacques de Compostelle through Montreal-du-Gers.
