Alcazar de Seville
The Alcazar de Seville, or el Real Alcázar as it is called there, is a majestic fortified palace, built by the Omeyyades in the seventh century, which occasionally hosts the royal family during his visits to Seville. The Alcazar is a faithful witness to Seville’s history, marked by the diversity of cultures and the legacy they left in the city. Its original structure dates from the Middle Ages, but the whole palace was strongly influenced by different architectural and cultural styles, ranging from Gothic to Baroque.
It consists of an infinity of finely decorated rooms with plasters, faiences and caissons ceilings, which complement the beautiful gardens, to create a subjugating set. Like Cathedral of Seville and the Archivo de Indias, the Alcazar de Seville was declared World Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 1987.
