Visit Nha Trang and its popular beaches in Vietnam

What to do in Nha Trang, this Vietnamese coastal town shared between history, relaxation, sports and evenings?

Nha Trang is the best known seaside resort Vietnam : its golden sand beaches lined with palm trees immediately plant the decor. It is an ideal place to practice water sports, especially water sports diving and surf . The immaculate beach and the quiet city are at the foot of small mountains, while the small offshore islands invite us to explore them. His adventure activities and clubs on the beach suggest that it is a dynamic city without too much interest. But get rid of yourself, Nha Trang is in charge of history, culture and is very pleasant to discover.

Nha Trang deserves at least 3 days of visit so many things to do.

Dive with sharks and rays

Nha Trang has been the dive guy in Vietnam for just over a decade, when the government created a marine natural reserve off the coast of Nha Trang in 2003. Island Hon Mun is one of the best diving spots in South-East Asia. The local diving agencies will take you to Hon Mun Island, which is only a short boat ride. On site, you can do some snorkeling and swim, even if it is for the dive that we come. The myriad of colorful corals are very close to the coast. The waters are full of tropical fish, including demonfish (Inimicus), clown fish and nudibranches. And although rare, seeing the strange coral shark, the turtle or manta ray is quite possible. Hon Mun is perfect for any type of diver: from beginners to those looking to pass their PADI training in the midst of sumptuous underwater landscapes.

Explore the Cham Towers of Po Nagar

The four brick towers that make up the Po Nagar complex date from the time of the kingdom of Champa which ruled this region between the 7th and 12th century. These towers were built to honor Yan Po Nagar, who was considered the matriarch of this kingdom. Located about 2 km north of Nha Trang, the towers are strategically placed at the mouth of the Cai River. You can capture the intense and intoxicating smell of burning incense sticks in the towers, which attract Vietnamese Buddhists, Cham and Chinese who came to pray and make offerings. In fact, this site has been used as a place of worship since year 2.

Enjoy beautiful beaches and water sports

In addition to diving, Nha Trang allows you to practice water sports such as surfing, kitesurfing, windsurfing, wakeboarding, sea kayaking and waterskiing. It's good to fill your days. After the effort, simply enjoy sunbathing on the beach of Nha Trang. It is full of small shops, bars, and restaurants. So if you want a little more calm, go to the beaches of Bai Duong, Nui Hon Chong, or Bai Dai.

It is also from Nha Trang that depart from days by boat to the offshore islands. On the programme: discovery of islands, tasting of dishes on the boat, snorkeling...

Founded at the end of the 19th century, the pagoda Long Son is a beautiful example of Buddhist temple. The roof of the pagoda is decorated with colorful glass mosaics illustrating dragons. Behind the pagoda, at the top of a small hill is a sparkling giant statue of a white Buddha sitting, which is visible everywhere in Nha Trang. The Buddha is 24 metres tall. Don’t forget to cover your shoulders and knees, and unlike what slaughterers could tell you, the entrance to the pagoda is free.

Admire the Cathedral of Nha Trang

The imposing French Gothic cathedral of Nha Trang (alias) Nha Tho Nui ), is a beautiful building. The cathedral was built at the top of a small hill between 1928 and 1933, under the French colonial rule. The sumptuous architecture has stained glass windows and has three large bells within its bell tower. Regular Masses are still taking place here thanks to the strong local influence of French Catholicism.

Shopping at the Cho Dam Market

The open air market Cho Dam is a good experience. With the merchants who sell fresh products, the day’s catches and all the counterfeiting, I suggest you go there making a tour preparing you to negotiate to do some good business.

Enjoy the Vinpearl amusement park

Nha Trang has many activities. If you have a little childhood that sleeps in you, you should take the cable car that takes you to the island of Hon Tre, where the Vinpearl Amusement Park , an amusement park and water park. The entrance for a day costs about 12€.

Hot water sources and mud baths are popular in Nha Trang. A relaxing pastime where the mud would have healing powers with the mud formed from volcanic rocks and ashes.

Test nightlife in Nha Trang

If I remember correctly, Nha Trang is a good memory to go out in the evening. We find nice and cheap bars on the beach and on the streets near the coast. Get out and you'll meet some festivities for sure!

How to go to Nha Trang?

Nha Trang is a fairly important city in Vietnam and it is possible to get there by plane, train and bus. You will find some flights from Ho-Chi-Minh-Ville and Hanoi from 25€. The price can reach 120€ (for both departure destinations).

By bus and train, your journeys from Hanoi and Saigon, or closer to Hue, Danang, Dalat or Mui Ne , will be much cheaper, but much longer and tiring.

On site, renting a scooter is recommended for a more “fluid” tour of the city.

Where to sleep in Nha Trang?

As in many cities in Vietnam, it is quite possible to find a hotel room once on arrival. In hollow times, you can even negotiate the price of one night depending on your stay. To find a cheap hotel in Nha Trang, you can always check the prices on our Compare hotels . Nha Trang Beach
