Story of Madison Square Garden in New York

The current hall of Madison Square Garden, located on 7th Avenue between the 31st and 33rd streets and backed by the Pennsylvania Station, was inaugurated on February 11, 1968. Historically, four different speakers formed the MSG. The location has evolved between 26th Street and 50th Street, but The Garden has always been located on the west side of Manhattan.

The first stadium was built in 1879, northeast corner of Madison Square, Madison Avenue and 26th Street. It is also in reference to this first room that its name comes from. In 1890, the building was demolished to give way to a new construction in the same place of nearly 8,000 seats.

How to get to Madison Square Garden in New York?

The building, in a round shape, is located above the Pennsylvania station on 7th Avenue at the cross between 31st Street and 33rd Street. This is the ideal place to attend a concert or a sports game.

There are several ways to get there:

  • On foot
  • Cycling: It is possible to rent a city bike, Citi Bike, to move from one point to another of the city. More 330 stations self-service are available in all corners of New York.
  • By metro: Borrowing lines A, C, E, 1, 2 or 3 and get off at 34 St-Penn Station. Madison Square Garden is located a few steps from the subway. HORARI

Guided tours take place every day, from Monday to Sunday, 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. . During the Knicks game days, guided tours only take place between 12:15 and 15:00.

The visits leave every half hour and last about 75 minutes.

RATES

To visit Madison Square Garden, you can buy Madison Square Garden All Access tickets Tour the same day at the Chase Square Team Store or the MSG ticket office located in the MSG hall. The entrance is located on 7th Avenue. Guided tours are offered according to the first arrival, first served, subject to availability.

You can also buy your tickets in advance with online and phone purchases.

The rates of the guided tour vary depending on age:

  • Senior 65 and older: $28
