Virtual Tour of Venice with Google Street View

Explore the canals of Venice, explore its streets, sail on its waters, cross its bridges and experience your own adventure in one of the most beautiful cities in the world thanks to Google Street View!

Have you ever been to Venice ? Maybe you want to go back, but you miss time. Fortunately, today, the new technologies come to your rescue since it is possible to make a virtual tour of Venice.

An innovative initiative

The city of Venice has partnered with Google to offer for some time the opportunity to visit virtually its streets, canals, famous monuments such as the Place Saint-Marc, the Doges Palace , the Rialto Bridge, Campanile de Saint-Marc or the Bridge of the Sorrows.

Google Street View dedicated page offers a walk through 360° tours on the street or through the water as if you were there. Tourist routes are suggested, especially in the corners of the city that are less known to the public like the Jewish Ghetto district.

As car traffic is prohibited in Venice, it is therefore on foot and in gondola that the famous Cité des Doges was filmed, photographed and mapped, about 184 km by boat and 427 km by foot.

A remarkable device

An ingenious idea made possible with Google’s “ trekker” device that proposes to carry a set of 360-degree cameras, and thanks to which you will be able to discover or rediscover Venice as you have never seen before. With a weight of 18 kg, the trekker is worn as a backpack and the shots are taken every 2 to 3 seconds with the help of 15 goals of a 5 megapixel resolution.

See the small churches, discover the palace of the city, walk through the maze of the alleys, here is an unprecedented circuit to see Venice in an unprecedented and spectacular way, you must admit it.

You will go to the meeting of tourists from all over the world who crowd the soil of the lacustrine city (their face is blurred by a concern of privacy) but the impression is present: you are in the middle of badauds and inhabitants during this Venetian trip not like others.

If you have the opportunity to make yourself “physically” in Venice, do not hesitate to read our articles about the Italian city:
