Transport to Paros: how to move to Paros?

Did you plan to leave for a few days in Paros? Choose your mode of travel. The success of your stay depends on it!

Paros is one of the three largest islands in the Cyclades Islands. A territory where the Marpissa chain dominates the coastal plains, Paros has many hills that end their race by standing in front of the Aegean Sea, in the form of cliffs or steep coasts. A few little coves reveal their turquoise waters. If we are looking for animation and tradition, Paros is home to pretty little villages, which will charm by their authenticity and character.

To get to Paros only one option is available to you: the ferry. Once you are on the island and in order to discover the richness of the island in good conditions, it is important to choose well its way of travelling. The means of transport in Paros are not rare: bus, car, scooter, motorcycle, quad, bike, boat, etc. It is necessary to determine the one that best fits you and that is in line with your project.

The KTEL network

The Paros (KTEL) land transport network is well developed and organized, at least during the high season. Many lines depart from Parikia (or Paroikia) or Naoussa. The main cities of Paros are served by buses.

Hours

The site of the KTEL network gives you the essential information. As a general rule, and in summer, the first buses start their tour around 7:30 a.m. The latter circulate until 1 am, for the most frequented lines.

Each town or village has a KTEL position. Please make sure to find out about the bus schedules for the busy little towns.

Rates

For information purposes, for the ticket Parikia-Naoussa:

Full price : 1,80 € Half-tariff : 0,90 € Student: 1,40 € Night rate : 2,20 € per night

The highest rate is 4 €, at night, to go from Parikia to Drios or Aspro Chorio.

What a joy to be free from his movements! If you want to move with your vehicle, it must obviously be anticipated. Indeed, you will have to choose a ferry that transports passengers and vehicles. Rest assured, it is most often the case.

Several companies provide daily connections from another Cyclades island or from the mainland: Blue Star Ferries, Hellenic Seaways, Minoan Lines, Seajets, Golden Star Ferries, etc. The Ferries in Greece website lists the different companies. Rent a car in Paros

In order not to find you without a vehicle, if you travel to Paros during the high season, it is best to book in advance, from the website of a professional car rental . You can rent a car for a day or longer, book it at a place on the island and return it to another, opt for a small or larger model, etc.

As a general rule, you must have at least 50 € for a small model and for a day, with unlimited mileage, flight protection and partial collision coverage.

Move to Paros by scooter, motorcycle or quad

Moving to Paros in two-wheels gives wings! However, we must remain extremely vigilant. Indeed, driving in the Cyclades is a perilous exercise! If you like to take risks, you will easily find a rental agency in Parikia or Naoussa. As far as the price is concerned, a day-to-day scooter rental, in summer, can range from 20 to 35 €.

Move to Paros by boat

In Paros, it is possible to rent boats to swipe the coasts of the island. Rent a motor boat, with or without a permit, at Paros Rent a Boat, from 120 € per day.

At Archipel, catamarans and yachts are available for rent, for a whole week, with skipper. It takes between 3 500 and 4 500 € on average for a yacht, 4 500 € for a yacht monohull , and between 5,000 and 7,000 € for a catamaran.

By taxi

New authorized taxis carry out Parikia-Naoussa routes. Apart from this connection, you can order a taxi, for a few hours or for the day, at the numbers indicated on the site of Paros.gr.

Walk to Paros

Paros has a network of thirty-five kilometers of hikes. It is not huge, but it allows to move quietly, to take the time to visit, to swim and contemplate.

By bike

Two-wheel rental agencies also offer bike rentals, such as Paros Rent a Car in Parikia. Rent road bikes from 9 € per day. The rates are degressive if you exceed two rental days.

Horse riding

The sea, the mountain, the sun rises and you, galloping on the paths, are you there? Perfect! Getting around in Paros can also be that! What better than discovering this island on horseback? Many recommend the Kokou Horse Riding Center in Naoussa. Count 60 € for the 2 h 30 ride in the sunrise, and 40 € for the 1 h 30 ride in the sunset. They also offer to drive you to the center, from Naoussa, for 5 €.

Good to know.

  • The wearing of the belt is mandatory by car, and that of the helmet is also required for both wheels.
  • Speed limits: 50 km/h in town, 70 to 90 km/h on road, 110 km/h on fast track.
  • Beware, it is not uncommon for the Greeks to double by the right!
  • As a general rule, be very careful, because driving to Paros is a high voltige exercise!
