The bus

Tickets are available at bus stops or buy directly inside the bus. A simple go will cost you 1,50€ (validity of 90 minutes). If you intend to take it more regularly, don’t hesitate to buy several tickets at once. For example, the 4 routes are worth 4,70€ .

To move to Florence comfortably, and even quickly, the bus or tram are obviously the transport to be preferred. The city has nearly 100 bus lines and 3 tram lines. Day buses circulate 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. . Night service can also be used 10:00 to 2:00 .

The most interesting bus lines to get to Florence are C1, C2, C3 and C4. These include the historic city centre. Lines 12 and 13 are particularly useful as they climb up the southern hill of the Arno River to Piazzale Michelangelo and San Miniato al Monte.

The tram

The trams operate from 5:30 am until midnight. The frequency is 3 to 4 minutes a day and up to 12 minutes a night.

None of the lines cross the historic centre of Florence. However, some are very practical and fast, especially because they have their own way.

The T1 Leonardo line, for example, connects the west (Villa Costanza to Scandicci) to the north of the city (Ospedale Careggi). The T2 line also connects the SMN train station (Piazza dell’Unità) to the Florence airport in just 20 minutes!

Many options are available to you to reach the city centre. You can opt for the tram, a private shuttle or a taxi, or even car rental.

By tram

As mentioned earlier, the T2 line now connects Santa Maria Novella Station (piazza dell’Unità) to Florence Airport. The journey only lasts 20 minutes Between them. Tickets are at the same price as previously seen.
