Tourist attractions near Lake Itasy

Lake Itasy is one of the attractions of Madagascarbut in its region are the Andranoratsy crater lake and the eucalyptus area.

Itasy , the cradle of the volcanoes of the upper Malagasy lands gathers in its midst tourist sites that deserve to be visited. The lake of 35 km2 and its immediate surroundings are made of landscapes sometimes green, sometimes semi-arid that delight the eye. The crater lakes nestled with mountain peaks decimated by the lava and waterfalls that fall from a height of more than 20 meters are so intoxicating. During a visit to this region to the fertile and so generous lands, one is transported to another world, far from the noises of large cities and pollution.

The exceptional landscapes of Itasy

The landscapes of the Itasy region are identical to the clichés of postcards. The very fertile valleys remain green all year round. On the slopes of the mountains, cassava plantations, potatoes or beans mix joyously with the rocks and sillasses left by volcanoes. As for the peaks of the surrounding heights, most of them are decimated. Some are similar to large bare parterres while others imitate the shape of a cuvette. This breathtaking show begins before arriving at Analavory 100 km from Antananarivo.

After Analavory, follow the RN43 and take 3 km. Then, go for a trekking of about 1 km or more in a small track that leads straight to the Andranoratsy crater lake.

There, the show is enchanting. After taking with them the peaks of a small mountain, the lava built a small bowl with what remains. In this small cavity is a water point, commonly referred to as crater lake. He is the living witness of the eruption of a volcano.

It leads to the fall of Lily . On the left is a large wall that encloses a dream destination “the Domaine de l’Eucalyptus”.

This tourist site gathers in its midst the Lake Mahitrondro and all the infrastructure essential to the relaxation sites that respect each other. Hotel-restaurant, B & Bs, amusement park and areas dedicated to various sporting disciplines welcome visitors to Itasy. Take a little break in this dream area before going to discover the fall of Lily. You can enjoy your break to fish in the calm waters of the Mahitondro or to pedal.
