The Herisson waterfalls are one of the most emblematic tourist sites in the Jura region. Located in the heart of the lake region, they are easily accessible, which allows you to take full view of the time of a simple walk, even with children! Here, seven cascades await you, the most emblematic of which are here.

The most famous, but also the most spectacular, is undoubtedly the stunt of the Fan. With a height of 65 meters high, it holds its name from its structure on stairs. A breathtaking vision. The second highest waterfall in the site closes the heel: it’s the Grand Saut, whose waters peak at 60 meters high before breaking at the foot of a rocky enclosure. Finally, the size of the Blue Gour is more modest but it is no less worth the detour. In fact, here, the charm operates in a different way: the frantic water of the waterfall flows in a striking color setting. Emerald green, opal, ochre... but no blue, despite what his name can let think!

The Billaude waterfall is also known as Claude Roy's waterfall. Indeed, it would be the name of a lumberjack who, attracted by tall fir trees, would have died there by falling from the top of his 28 meters.

Located at the bottom of the Lemme valley, near the village of Siam, the Billaude waterfall offers a landscape that seems straight out of fairy tales. If for a long time it was difficult to access the site, it now houses metal structures that allow you to approach this true wonder of nature.

A wonderful and intimate show, which was apparently very appreciated by the poet Alphonse de Lamartine.

The route also leads you to discover true works of art, carved by water over time and which offer visitors an unusual landscape: the pots of giants. Finally, stop at the hole of the Abyss, a reservoir of water with a particularly deep color that makes it an amazing feature: 45 meters of depth of galleries are below!

The cascade of the Tufs of Baume-les-Messieurs is perhaps the most beautiful waterfall in the Jura. She holds her name from the rock that composes it, the tuf. From sedimentary origin, it is formed by micro-organisms and leads to foam formation, which gives the cascade its colours and shape so special. Often dry in the summer, the waterfall is best seen in spring, after rain. It reveals all its potential, deploying its bouillonous waters on this impressive cluster of limestone and green foam.

Close to the waterfall is Baume-les-Messieurs, ranked Plus Beau Village de France. Don't miss visiting his abbey, his caves and his majestic belvederes.

Indeed, it was said that a vavre came to water. This dreadful creature, between a winged woman and a serpent, had his vision to a jewel of invaluable value, the Escarmouche. To swim, she placed it on the shore, in the foam or under a rock. She was then vulnerable: the opportunity for thieves! But those who were caught were inevitably dead.
