How do I summarize Cameroon? Because we must admit it, in its isolated country airs on the world tourist scene, Cameroon is home to incredible wonders! When you cross this vast territory, the imagination ignites, the show is incessant... High peaks catering to clouds, rainforests overflowing with chlorophyll, volcanic solids, isolated beaches and savannas with lost sight. In addition to these hypnotic and varied panoramas, the encounter with a disturbing population is added.

Cameroonians and Cameroonians are divided into several ethnic groups, each with their unique codes and traditions. However, they all live in harmony and have one thing in common: hospitality, authenticity, warmth and kindness. This territory of Africa has one last asset: it is the privilege of the barders in search of a yet scarce destination. When we go to Cameroon, we are so far away from consumerist tourists and this is fabulous.

Mountain lovers, shaved countryside, rare animals, beaches, waterfalls or vibrant cultures: everyone has its place in this country. To convince you, here are the 10 most beautiful places to visit in Cameroon!

The two falls of Ekom fall over more than eighty meters. Located in the village of Ekom-Nkam, it is the most remarkable in the country. They bear the names of Métché and Ekom-Nkam. These forces of nature are dear to the heart of the inhabitants and charged with legends. The story tells us that at the end of the 1950s, the settlers threw the nationalists captive in the rainbow waters of the Cheese.

It also seems that these cascades deployed in lush vegetation inspired the landscapes of the Tarzan film. Moreover, this unspoiled decor may eventually become a theme park on the subject so... go quickly!

With its entry to UNESCO World Heritage, this vast expanse of 170,000 hectares is home to endemic species that make small and large dreams come true. Among them: lions, cheetahs, antelopes, giraffes, phacoches, hyenas, ostriches and elephants. Yes, you are a spectator of a perpetual parade worthy of King Lion!

Campo Ma’an is home to chimpanzees and gorillas growing in landscapes as diverse as confined. Did you know that Campo Ma’an National Park is funded by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and recognized for its wood and oil palm plantations, essential to the country’s economy?

Among the great places of interest in Cameroon, Foumban will delight the art ferus. This city is the cradle in Cameroon. From music to architecture, to sculpture: everything is still alive here. Another feature of Foumban: the city bathes in the Muslim religion. For yes, to the palette of natural and ethnic varieties, is added a wide variety of religions!

It is also the eastern and Islamic influences that give Foumban such a seductive face. As in a dream at the crossroads of all regions of Africa, the mosque, the Royal Palace and its museum are the masterpieces of this city full of Art and History. For information, the Royal Palace, the seat of the Bamoum power, also evokes medieval architecture. In his museum sleep all kinds of royal ornaments, armories, musical instruments, statues, jewels, masks and thrones richly ornamented.

Yaoundé, the capital, is like the country, a crossroads that are cultural, economic and ethnic. As it is difficult to assimilate the whole history of Cameroon in a short stay, Yaoundé makes you the summary. Through its national museum located in the city centre, you pass through its primitive arts and listen to the sighs of the colonial past. Other museums are also worth a visit: the Musée d’Art camerounais lové in a Benedictine monastery, the Musée d’Art nègre erected in the very living area of Melen.

The capital is also known for its know-how in grilled chicken. Its main avenues are lined with artisanal shops: perfect to make a few shopping. Congolese masks, Ivorian fabrics, bowls or bronze bamoum pipes, what memory will proudly stand on your shelf? Finally, make a tour on the side of the Basilica Marie-Reine of the Apostles. Located on the hill of Mvolyé, this monument honours the twelve apostles and the sacraments.

Not far from Yaoundé, do not miss the Sainte Anastasie wood. This beautiful setting of nature to visit in Cameroon, bearing the name of President Paul Biya's mother, opens a green and relaxing parenthesis outside the city. You will meet the locals who have come to picnic with family and some young lovers in the shade of vegetation.

Vacation lovers, stop in Kribi. Is it a secret entrance door to paradise or a real natural beauty? We don't really know. What is safe is that Kribi is one of the most beautiful places to visit in Cameroon and perhaps in the world. The painting stretches along perfect white sandy beaches and bears by a sea of a piercing blue.

The restaurants are spreading on the seaside, serving freshly disembarked fish from fishing boats. Not far from the Kribi area are also the Falls of the Lobe. The scene is breathtaking: the turquoise sea with fracas meets the waterfalls.

Limbé, volcanic mountain still active, closes the memorable slopes of Mount Cameroon. Despite its volcanic origin, the region remains a fertile hollow of plants, gardens and waterfalls. As for Mount Cameroon, the highest peak of the country with its 4,000 meters and a few altitudes, it is easily approached by hiking enthusiasts. Ascension takes place between thick equatorial forests and huge subalpine meadows.

You can make the climb and the redescent in a day or spend a night in one of the chalets junched at more than 2,000 meters altitude. Insured thermal shock but fantastic experience guaranteed. However, ascent is overall muscular: 27 kilometers round-trip. The novices will be content with toading at the foot of the mountain.

8. The Dja Wildlife Area

Favoured by an incredibly fertile biodiversity, the Dja wildlife reserve preserves, on its own, no less than five endangered mammal species. But not that! It is also home to many primates including gorillas and chimpanzees.

It is also one of the largest protected wetlands in Africa. The reserve is delimited by the natural river Dja, which only strengthens its atmosphere worthy of an episode of Indiana Jones (yes, Cameroon is decidedly very inspiring).

9. Korup National Park
