Of modest size, but rich in a wide variety of landscapes: forests, valleys, hills and rivers make up a very remarkable bucolic space. The natural parks of the Haute-Sûre, the Ur and the Mullerthal also cover three more than one third of the country.
To explore them at your own pace, we offer our selection of the most beautiful hikes in Luxembourg. These varied routes are perfect for exploring the treasures of this charming cradle of Europe.
1. Oral circuit in the heart of Petite Suisse

The Mullerthal is the name given to the “Little Luxembourgish Switzerland”, a hilly region in the east of Grand Duchy, near the German border. Its name comes from its landscapes that resemble the Helvétique Confederation. As part of this hike to be done in Luxembourg, you will walk on about ten kilometers of typical cliffs and canyons leading to some sumptuous panoramas.
The itinerary, forested, is very pleasant in the summer due to the shade, well worthwhile when it’s hot. For the rest, path is very well marked and practicable in all seasons. So you have no excuse not to come and survey him!
2. La Boucle de Bavigne

La Boucle de Bavigne is located in Diekirch , west of Esch-sur-Sûre, in the center of the Haute-Sûre Natural Park. You are here in the heart of the Ardennes ( Eislek Luxembourg). In addition, the Lake of Haute-Sûre provides a safe water supply of 70% of the country’s population. This hike in Luxembourg, a reasonable length , presents Moderate difficulty which makes it ideal for a family with children.
Close to a superb leisure area where you can practice many water sports, it is punctuated with swimming and relaxation areas. Maybe the greedies will be tempted by a couple of grilled meats on the lake?
3. Gorgeous route between Echternach and Berdorf

Meet at the Basilica of Echternach to start this exceptional route along the German-German-German border. This hike in Luxembourg runs through the Wolfsschlucht (the "Loup Gorge") and its impressive rock walls. Some are more than 50 meters high!
Throughout the thirteen kilometers of your journey, you will enjoy great views of the Mullerthal . The Paulsplatte or the Trooskneppchen are first choice panoramic viewpoints, to be enjoyed before reaching the Hohllay Cave and its tunnels.
Good to know. : the trace is particularly sumptuous in autumn, when the leafy dyes with a beautiful golden color.
4. Nice buckle in Berdorf

We offer this nice circuit near the village Berdorf, in the heart of the Petite Suisse Luxembourgeoise. The place is known for its production of natural cheeses and other dairy products. On site, this bucolic path departing from the village, sinks into the woods along a cute little stream, advances into fields and penetrates into the gorges and caves that make the region famous.
Very well marked (please follow the blue arrow), it is ideal to visit the Mullerthal. This loop is for Beginner walkers or confirmed and will appeal as much to the young as to the great.

It is in the canton of Mersch, in the centre of the Grand Duchy, that we have set up this hike in Luxembourg. This is a short walk through the forest allowing to tackle various terrains. Moreover, you will have to "grave" some rocks or stairways of stone... without great difficulties, however, but which ensure on the itinerary a well appreciated playful side.
In the vicinity, we also offer you to admire the impressive menhir of Reckingen, a local heritage star. Mysterious, about 3 meters high and weighing about 3.5 tons, we do not know much... who knows, maybe you will discover his mysteries by visiting him?

Join the town of Bech in the canton of Echternach for one well marked itinerary, easy In the middle of the forest. Go to the restaurant at the starting point to walk to the points of interest of the circuit. The river has beautiful waterfalls, which are accessed through friendly trails and low-lying forest roads.
The trees, decidedly, are the kings of the region: to realize it, go to admire the incredible oak of Hersberg. With a circumference of almost eight metres, aged over 500, it is a local pilgrimage site. The trunk of this mastodon classified as the "remarkable tree of Luxembourg" houses a statue of the Blessed Virgin.
7. Shady walk in the vicinity of Abweiler

Bettembourg, in the canton of Esch-sur-Alzette, is the setting for one of the most pleasant hikes in Luxembourg. This one Begins in the hamlet of Abweiler and continues through undergrowth and hilly hills. The second half of the hike is in our view the most interesting: places of rest and picturesque small ponds await you.
Perfect to enjoy a quiet moment dedicated to contemplation... or a delicious picnic. A "Ham de l’Oesling" sandwich, the Ardennes ham, or a "Germperekichelcher", a potato cake with eggs and onions, will certainly make the joy of all participants.
8. Beautiful loop in forest edge between Bridel and Mamer

The Mamer River, a tributary of the Alzette, gave its name to the commune in which we give you an appointment. This hike crosses the valley from the forest following a path marked with blue panels and punctuated with rest areas. The track, in the summer, is scented by the smell of conifers which gives it false Mediterranean airs of course to the Juckelsbësch plateau. The little ones will enjoy ease of the course just as much as the game area presents at the arrival point.
If they have enough energy, of course... Is that so? So enjoy your presence to visit the Gallo-Roman baths of Mamer whose foundations are always apparent. A real time jump in the heart of a wooded park, ideal for enjoying the sweetness of living in Luxembourg.
9. Discover the caves and canyons of the Mullerthal

This hike in Luxembourg takes place in the heart of Petite Suisse luxembourgeoise . Take the path of the Mullerthal Trail, very well marked , to the spectacular canyon of the Roitsbach. The B2 trail allows you to climb on the iron ladder leading to the Eagle Nid or the Devil Island. Outstanding views of this beautiful region will enhance your progress, interspersed with visits to the rocky cavities that make it famous.
Provide good boots and rugged clothes to make the journey, especially when it rained. The rain is frequent in Luxembourg but make sure: it never lasts long.
10. Charming route to Mertert

This beautiful walking path starts on large forest tracks before entering the shaded forest of Mertert. You will follow the course of the Syre, a left tributary of the Moselle, until a waterfall where you can enjoy a fresh break. This route stands out by the beautiful diversity of landscapes encountered: undergrowth, fields, rivers and meadows. Depending on the season, some cows will observe you with a placid eye.
Some steep passages bring a playful touch to this hike without major difficulties which will take place in less than three hours. To conclude: a nice walk that you are recommended in all seasons!
11. Between forest and castle

Here you will have the pleasure of discovering one of the valleys of the Eislek Sûre. The way begins rather steep to flatten gradually. It can be surveyed in less than three hours, which will be great for a summer or spring afternoon.
