The 6 most beautiful hikes to do in the Rambouillet Forest

The hiking routes in the Rambouillet Forest offer all the imaginable variants for hikers: trails cross the woods in all directions, for pretty loops or convenient railway routes.

Because it is not necessarily necessary to have a vehicle to hike in the Rambouillet Forest, a significant asset since it is only a few kilometers away from Paris : the stations of Rambouillet or Perray-en-Yvelines are well connected by the Transilien. It is therefore a place all found around the capital to spend a beautiful day to the green, to walk in the forest.

Sympathy in all seasons, colourful randos in spring, in the shade in summer, sprinkled with mushrooms in autumn, and romantic in winter! With a predominantly flat terrain, you don't find the difficulty in the denivelé, very limited, but rather in the distances travelled, because it is possible to walk kilometers in the Rambouillet Forest!

A very friendly and varied hike, accessible at all levels of walker. More convenient, it starts directly from the Perray train station, to finish at the Rambouillet train station, for a return trip to Transilien.

The starting point for this hike in the Rambouillet Forest is at the choice from the Perray train station if you are travelling by public transport, but you can also park at the edge of the trail.

This beautiful buckle, easy to achieve, allows you to turn the ponds of Holland, which consisted of a hydraulic system to feed the waters of the Château de Versailles . The path, between water and shaded forest, is a real pleasure to travel in all seasons.

Auffargis (Vallée de Chevreuse) will be the starting point of this beautiful hike in the Forest of Rambouillet, rather demanding in terms of effort: go in the morning to have the time to complete the loop, while enjoying the preserved landscapes of the Valley of the Vaux of Cernay, a preserved natural space with small waterfalls, ponds and of course, an abundance of forest!

On the way, do not hesitate to crochet to visit the old Abbey of Vaux-de-Cernay.

Don’t let yourself be impressed by the name of this hike in the Rambouillet Forest: the Cup-Gorge pond has nothing of a dangerous place! Here you will find an ideal starting point for this walk (parking).

Go along the pond and continue in the heart of the forest: do not miss one of the curiosities of this route, the Oak de la Tête d’Alouette, which seems to make you from the edge of the road.

After a quiet walk under the trees, you reach the pond of Gruyer, a place where you can easily relax for a moment, before you find the starting point of the hike.

6. From Rambouillet to Orgerus by the forest of Rambouillet

You will also cross the forest of the Four Pillars before the terminus. Beware of the mistakes in forest orientation that unnecessarily extend the trip! Big advantage, it is a train station circuit, no need to rewind.
